Agree he hasn't been at it recently - but he is over the hill - kind of admitted it last night saying he was struggling at the end being 35 years old, but his wealth of experience shone through last night, just aggravating anyone he came into contact with in a red shirt: Gabriel, Rice, Havertz, Trossard, Martinelli all got a bit of his mind last night.
What a game and what a result for the Toon. Beating Arsenal home and away 2-0. I think what I love most about the project under Howe is that we've brought in some immense players (Bruno, Isak, Tonali), got the most out of some players who at one time in their careers looked awful (Joe, Murphy, Longstaff) and are bringing through some exciting talent (Hall, Miley). We aren't buying success. But we might just be earning it.
There was a stat I saw saying that since the takeover we've now beaten Arsenal 5 times in 8 matches. Whereas pre takeover we beat them 5 times in 45 matches. I can't validate it, but if true then that is an immense turnaround and shows we can now at least compete. No wonder lego heed hates us.
So this is a double edged sword, we want Spurs to go through, but at the same time if Liverpool go through we're definitely in Europe.
Unless I'm mistaken, we beat them once in the entire Ashley reign (Carroll's header away there in 2010), and lost pretty much every other time.
One Europe place for the league cup, Liverpool will already have the Champions league place so it'll go to us.
Yeah you're right https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/does-the-carabao-cup-winner-qualify-for-europe/bltd5a59caa6a43f5df My dad told me early today if Liverpool get through we're in Europe automatically, he was wrong.
I watched that from the Arsenal end. Deserved an Oscar for pretending to be upset when the header went in.
I was Arsenal end when we lost 1-0 at the Emirates in 2017 and Ozil scored that great volley. I didn't have to pretend to celebrate when they scored, cos none of the Arsenal fans really did either, it being the Highbury Library an all.
I did that at the Famous Liam O'Brien over the wall goal I was level on the 18 yard line sitting in the main stand jumped out of my seat when the ball went in then had to shout out loud '**** I thought he had missed' when everyone was looking at me
Wasn't at that one (watched it live on Central TV or something), but I remember being at the Leicester game a few weeks later, we lost 2-1 and we're pretty rubbish, but Liam O Brien scored another blinder. We had a free kick towards the end just outside the area and Liam ran up and leathered the ****er like a cannonball, keeper got nowhere near it, which was best for him as it nearly broke the net and would have killed the keeper.
I only had tickets because my girlfriend's dad (a ST holder at the Emirates) got bumped up to corporate that day and he gave us his ST. Relationship didn't last long after that. Wonder if you met him in corporate that day. He was a miserable beggar, never happy, always moaning about something. ...wait a minute
I saw a stat flash up last night before Arsenal took a corner saying from about 165 corners this season we've conceded 1 goal. Arsenal had about 4 corners after that so it's a lot higher now. That's pretty mental that. I reckon we've probably scored one goal from about 165 corners ourselves to be fair....we're fooking ****e at them !
