I was hoping we'd win the Europa, get relegated and make history.

:emoticon-0159-musicChampions League football in the lower leagues, you'll never sing that. :emoticon-0159-music

Play at The Den one week, the Bernabeu the next.

    Glory days.

I voted Ange in. All the way. Until the wheels fall off. <laugh>

I have a feeling that despite my naturally much lower expectations, Spurs, with Ange, are going to make history this season and win at least two of the three available cups.

Europa and one other would be ideal of course.

I'm rooting for Ange to wipe the smirks off of the faces of the many doubters.

King bearing in mind that you have been anti Ange from the beginning, it's worth pointing out that there are many of us who do not subscribe to that point of view.
I look at what is happening at Spurs which is that so far the board the football director and the manager are all working together to develop an exciting team that could genuinely challenge for major honours. A new approach is taking place with a long term view. Finding young players who fit into the overall plan and buying them before they reach their full potential thereby putting them within reach of Spurs.
For years we have been a reactionary team employing managers, adapting the team to their style and them sacking them once no instant success is achieved. This has proved to be successful to an extent but in the last decade, while gaining decent league positions, the clamour for trophies has increased.
I look at the young players we have signed and I am excited for the future. Sacking Ange will just take us back to the usual nearly team we have become. Johan Lange clearly has a long term plan to take Spurs to the top and Ange is very much part of that.

15th in the league was my point. If that’s not wheels falling off then I don’t know what is.

Signing young players who have potential is all well and good but the reality is the club has gone backwards on the pitch since Ange took over. On course to finish in the bottom half of the table for the first time in 17 years. Manager woefully out of his depth with tactics and adaptability. Injuries every week for some reason.

Ultimately this is all that matters. If the players believe in him and want to fight for him, he stays.

We saw with Jose and Conte what happens when the players stop fighting, and it isn't pretty.

That's your view, which is very well rehearsed, I don't share it. In order to move forward in a different direction you cannot expect all to be in place immediately. This was described by Ange himself when he started as probably a 3-year project, we are halfway through.

    It’s a 4 year project isn’t it. I think he’s contracted until 2027.

I’m not expecting anyone to share my view, some probably do and others like yourself don’t. It’s good, keeps it interesting. Would be boring if we all thought the same.

I just think the wheels came off already, hopefully that’s rock bottom and the only way is up

4 years would be his contract period, but I believe he said it would probably take 3 years to turn Spurs around to the new methods. In my view he is often misunderstood due to his, almost Redknapp like way, of engaging with the media. He claims to have one way when in fact he has altered his tactics on a number of occasions. He claims to be uninterested in set piece coaching when we could all see changes made following City's bullying of Vicario. In my opinion his tactics are not as off the wall as pundits like to describe. I think the difference and the one players like, is the freedom he gives them to express themselves. This is the part that takes time and requires the 'right' sort of players. Given that freedom means they also have the responsibility to make more decisions during the course of game and that of course is a higher risk strategy than a Mourinho 'system' or a Conte straight jacket.
I am all for Ange's philosophy so, of course I hope he manages to succeed but it's a higher risk game than Spurs have played since the days of Hoddle and Ardilles.

They are being wheeled out to as toe the party line. I wouldn’t take heed of such posts.

What truly matters is who will put in a transfer request in the summer.

It’s okay. You’re not the only one.

But I’m seeing some signs that Ange is adapting his tactics. I’m curious to see if this is solely down to injuries or whether there’s an acceptance from Ange that “his way” simply isn’t feasible.

A view that I also share (driven extensively by the numbers,
and "Ockham's razor" on the managers' (in)actions) .

We are still in all of the cups. That means at least three wheels are still on. Plus, I'm excited to see what Ange can do with a full squad for a whole season.

We are slowly arriving there now.

In terms of wheels falling off or staying on, it’s safe to say the next 11 or so days are going to be potentially season defining and we’ll definitely see how many wheels are still spinning.

A semi final second leg, an FA Cup 4th round and a league match against the side directly above us… it’s a massive period for the club and Postecoglou.

I make that the 3rd (to date) "massive period ..." this season.

Yeah somehow Ange keeps failing the big moments but still in a job.

Spurs will definitely lose tonight at Anfield (I expect Pool to be at least 2 goals to the good by half time), probably will lose to Villa in the FA Cup and he should be gone. But he won’t.

I agree he’s failed in just about every big moment for us so far but I think the next 11 days are genuinely season defining. They’re bigger than just “big moments”, essentially they’re “the” moments in Ange’s Spurs career to date.

We could be in a final, still in the FA Cup and move further up the league with 3 wins. Or we could be out of both domestic cups and further down the table with 3 losses.

It’s a huge 11 days in my opinion. Despite my view of him as a manager I still really like him as a bloke so I hope he steers us through, for him and more importantly us fans.

Agree with all of this, although I do think that in relation to the match tonight, a defeat is expected - it's Liverpool at Anfield FFS! - so in some ways the performance is more important than the result.
If the lads fight hard, show desire and lose then we just move on.
If there's a capitulation of course, then that raises some very serious questions....
