Tom No one died as a consequence of Khalife taking the photos and I think he was more of a charlatan and idiot for contacting the Iranians than a criminal. When you compare his sentence (for a crime for which there were no victims and no damage ) it is completely over the top in comparison with the recent sentenced for the murders in Southport or other crimes which have caught the ear of the media. Given that he was of Iranian descent,..what on earth were the army thinking of when employing him ?
Given that Iran is one of the principle foreign powers engaged in cyber crimes against UK, then I would have thought Khalife would have been vetted more thoroughly than he was. I am not suggesting that the military engage in racist recruitment and they are open to employ who they wish. This is why so many people in the British Army come from places like Fiji.
