A lot of goals are conceded like this mind. Coaches must know this, ( City conceded two on Sunday, and more than one other earlier, others at that level have too) but think that it is by and large worth it. As long as it is occasionally mixed with a directed pass over the top, which we do attempt, It's something to live with. And it keeps us all on the edge of our seats!
When Boro scored their opening goal my first thought was 'bollocks'. However my second thought was how much quicker O'Nien's brain is than his little legs As he was chasing Burgzorg he first thought about pulling him down ... ,,, then calculated the possibility of Patterson saving versus the length of time left in the game and his value to the team. His conclusion was to allow the lumpy forward to carry on hoping he'd fall over his feet and blow the chance. So it was a complicated scenario, an evaluation of the various factors and a decision which proved correct as he contributed to the winning goal. Luke O'Nien - 'Smiling assassin, dog rescuer, Sunderland legend and quantum physicist' No real idea what a quantum physicist is but it sounds dead clever!
One last thing about last night. That little Ultras section Boro have is cringeworthy to say the least and that bloody drum
That's a puzzle to me . . . . I watched the whole match and I didn't know about the drum until I looked at this thread
I watched on sky and was close to muting it at times. All I could hear was the stupid ****ing drum in the background!
I did mute it unless we were attacking tbh, absolutely awful. Pleased I put the sound on when they were interviewing Isidor, about his goal, after the game ... ... 'Did the goalkeeper make it easy for you' ... ... Wilson burst out laughing and ignored him
Would love to understand the beef Goodman has with Sunderland. Throughout the game he was pretty negative towards us and it at the end it felt like a begrudging congratulations to Le Fee...even tho the lad led their defence a merry dance the entire game. He clearly has an issue with our club
Just been thinking, we are lucky that Mary Whitehouse isn't knocking about cos she would be campaigning against Le Fee being on the telly as his first touch is proper filth!
1. Back to keeper? He was facing the other way?if ye dies that and loses it then what? 2 wide to Dennis, marked 3.Central to Jobe, also marked and asking for the ball, stood and waited for the ball instead of moving towards it, which would have negated the press also 4. Hoof it? I accept Luke’s part in it. But you have to say Jobe has to share the blame. It was poor from both
It would probably be cos he didn't get to play in the cup run and John Byrne was the darling of the fans cos of his scoring exploits
I think it's probably a bit like how so many fans are bitter. Even when we play good, they're quiet. When we draw to Plymouth it's "typical sunderland", a sign of people stuck in their ways.
Its harsh to criticise after a great win...but I would just say...wish we wouldn't piss about with the ball in and around our box at times, especially when its clear the opposition are deploying a high press. On another note...hope someone spends time with Patto on his distribution, it needs some serious work... all that said, we are a pleasure to watch right now
