We finally booked a week in Spain in the summer hol after a few years without. How long have the airlines been grabbing you by the bollocks around luggage charges? I'm sure last time there was a charge of about 25 quid per case, but now to take a 20kg suitcase each, Easyjet are charging us over 60 quid per person each way, so for the 4 of us that added up to nearly 500 quid. There's no flexibility at all. Realistically, 2 cases would do us, with a couple of small bags, but we can't only apply that to two of us. It's a full party charge, so we have to pay through the anus. A couple of days later, I realised that I probably should have made 2 seperate bookings to dodge a couple of us paying it. Robbing ****s.
It's probably too late to help if you've already booked, but for next time you just book all 4 of you in without any luggage, then as you go through the booking stage they'll ask you again if you want to add hold luggage - at that stage just add 2 cases. Agree it's daylight robbery and it's designed to make you add luggage for everyone. Could be worth ringing customer services to see if they'll let you change your booking
"We're unable to refund luggage you've already bought" Guess I should have googled it beforehand. I'm normally quite savvy with **** like that, but the website is deliberately awkward. You select your flights, and you get a pop-up about your luggage and you can't progress without selecting an option. Only one of them mentions a large case, so I picked that, and then it's locked in with no option to edit without restarting from scratch. Then when you get to the hold luggage section, your only option is to add extra bags, or increase the weight of the bags you've already chosen. So overall I've been shaken down for about £200. That's left a proper sour taste. I wonder how many times they manage to scam that per flight.
EasyJet. I avoided Ryanair for 3 reasons - Principles, more inconvenient flights, and their luggage seemed even more convoluted.
'My flights are full of people who said they'd never travel with us again'. Michael O'Leary, Ryanair CEO. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Whitby next week, there inside an hour and a half, in the pub within two hours of leaving home. Takes as much luggage as you like, take the kitchen sink if you want, all at no extra cost. What's not to like?
Ha ha.... my wife says that every year.......... "Jet2 are so much nicer" I'm off to Cyprus next month for a week ex Manchester choices are: Ryanair £58 Easyjet £119 Jet2 £142 Thank you Michael, I think we'll go with you again
They’re all fine as long as you accept they’re just a bus service really Get on one when it arrives, get off the other end closer to your destination than you were before you got on. Thats it.
I book holidays now through tui or jet2 and it’s nice to be treat properly Instead of navigating that ****s website while they try and rip you off and include things you don’t want The paddy **** is hating it now as lots of people aren’t paying for a bag at all He thought he would do that to make them all pay more No one hardly is now His poor staff are having to go up and down the cabin checking if anyone’s stuck a bag in the overhead locker who shouldn’t !! Or even a coat !!
Unless you're not taking any luggage, you need to look at the total cost, rather than just the headline flight cost.
Just de used to do the Cleveland Way , done a fair bit of the coast in parts but want to do the whole . Sometime in May I think
Same here. Stayed in Warkworth a few times. Lovely little place and handy for Amble and Alnwick.,Great bus service until late so can go for a few beers instead of driving and having soft drinks.
Yeah, stayed there a few times! Schh, don't tell everyone. Also love Beadnell and that area (incl Seahouses / Bamburgh). #happyplace
Yep, fair point - but Ryanair still win - revised costs including a large suitcase: Ryanair £149 Jet2 £218 Easyjet £236 It's Easyjet that are the worst for baggage costs.
Tend to go Jet2, both flight onlies and done a few of their holidays. I've booked a city break later in the year with Easyjet as Jet2Leeds don't do Munich. First Easyjet booking for a while and noticed the change on luggage charges, additional charge for cabin and hold luggage. Gone are the days of cheap flights however there still seems to be a big difference in the day you go outbound and inbound so still booked lowest fare.
