At the moment, Spurs are on 31 points from our first 13 matches, which is 12 points better off than we were at the same stage last season.

But how do our actual results in 2011-12 compare with the corresponding fixtures in 2010-11?

The answer is that we're 9 points better off and we've increased our points from last season in 5 matches, remained the same in 7 matches and only dropped points in one match (against Manchester City)...

...next up is Stoke City, where we won last season, so we'll have to wait for further improvement at home to Sunderland where we only managed a draw last season.

Note: In the table posted above, the three promoted teams - Norwich City, Queens Park Rangers & Swansea City - have replaced the three relegated teams - Birmingham City, Blackpool & West Ham United.

What a superb start we've had, I don't think anyone would've guessed it after two games. Of course we've pushed our luck at times but you can see how much some of our players have grown and improved with just a few tweaks.

    Thanks, 6061 <ok>

    Great reading as usual 6061.
My grandad once told me that it would take an exceptional team to match the double winning squad, I think finally we're almost there.

Amazingly we are only 6 wins behind last years total (16/10).Shows how many games we didn't kill off.

That really is a surprising stat, Pat.
It's not like we did particularly badly last season, either.

Hail the King of the Tables. Good article 6061 and food for thought.

    Excellent work 60/61.

    Good stat there Pat.

I'm finding harder and harder not to believe that this current team is on the verge of something special.

  9. Now, you see why I have been so optimistic about this team!

Sure, it could all fall flat, but that could happen any time and to any team.

I hope Harry gets in New Striker during the January window, and perhaps a really decent LB (to give Ekotto some competition) and/or a CB (just in case we lose Kaboul/Gallas, or Dawson doesn't make it off the injury table before the close of the season).

We've got to push for the title this season, rather than merely look to finish in the top 4. I believe we really are THAT good.

I'm a big fan of 6061, but for once I disagree (very marginally :) ) with his stats.

To me we are currently 7 points up on last season's fixtures, as the comparison with QPR for me is Brum. My reasoning being that QPR were the 'best placed' of the promoted teams and Brum the 'best placed' of the relegated teams.

It will even itself out of course in the long run, but to me the 'equivalent' of Blackpool is Norwich.

Quite weird, was actually wondering just a couple of days ago what our record against teams compared to last season was. Nice one 6061. Can any of the mods make this a sticky please?
