    - one of our brightest young talents, who has only shown flashes, who wasn't going to sign a new contract, who we were going to lose for free. A shame, yes, but the choice was kinda taken out of our hands, and let's see how good he actually is, shall we?

    - so what?

    - we've loaned out a few players. The 'dross' that you're talking about are precisely the people who will get us promoted next season. The only one that's a shame we can't shift is ABK, but that's because he's a prick.

    - we've strengthened at LWB and CM/AM. What more were you hoping for? To splash a load of cash in a panic on someone not really good enough?

Presumably we'll have someone new in charge making the transfer decisions by then though?

I see you're still ignoring the countless attempts to explain why this is bollocks and continuing to forge on with that narrative. No wonder people can't be arsed to try and respond to you.

SR didn't really give survival a go before the start of the season, why would they try now?

Baz to Belgium. I know plenty don't but I hope he goes well - still think he'll come good.

Can see a scenario where it’s similar to Martin when we hired him. We are technically a PL club til July 1st I think, so if we go after a manager who is in a job (let’s say Rohl) then we will pay compensation as a PL club even if we are relegated. You can argue over paying what is a relatively small fee in football terms (a few mil compensation) but last time we went back and forth with Swansea over the compensation which delayed Martin coming in.

Of course it could be that everyone involved knows it’s going to happen, it’s just a case of sorting out the paperwork so whoever the new manager is could be doing their homework in the meantime, but I’m not expecting a manager to be announced much before pre season starts (and I think there is a good chance Juric is the manager next season)

In terms of the squad, if we have a DoF in place then they can obviously start planning. However football is very fast moving, someone we want might then attract attention from someone better meaning we miss out. Someone we might not think we have a chance at becomes available because of other circumstances, so it is very hard to really plan too far in advance.

I’m not for everything they’re saying but I think they absolutely have a point when it comes to SR’s approach to this window. It is frankly shocking that a Premier League club that is being universally mocked with only 1 win by Christmas seemed to have no desire whatsoever to do anything in the transfer window. There was seemingly no plan or conversation in place with Russell to improve a horrendous start and based on interviews with Juric it wasn’t until mid ****ing January that he spoke about having future meetings about transfers. Like quite literally what the **** are you doing with your time that the first conversation of every week wasn’t “how is this all going so bad and how do we fix this?”. Because by all accounts it wasn’t until late January we started even talking about signings.

So I do think there is a point to the fact that they absolutely slept walked into the window when arguably the club should have had some key targets in place and discussions should have been had prior to the window opening. Unless I’ve missed something, that really wasn’t the case and that is a concern. I understand changes have been made since but still just not filled with confidence at all from this board.

The second the window opened I was expecting news about us looking for strikers and we just didn’t. I think even the most ardent defender of this season could see we should have been going hard for a striker, even just a loan till the end of the season. But we did what we did best and bought a 19 year old defender instead.

I wasn’t asking for us to splash loads of cash. Saving money for next season is sensible at this point (which is pathetic)

But I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a club that is awash with premier league money, to at least strengthen some of the glaring holes in the squad. Even with a loan.

It shows gross incompetence, bordering on negligence to not even use the last loan spot.
It shows gross incompetence that we didn’t even start discussing transfers with our new manager until half way through the window.

I don’t see how they can continue to charge such high ticket prices when clearly by their actions they have thrown in the towel on the season.

It's a great post and a lot of sense but it completely and utterly hinges on SR doing business over the summer. Everything in that post is reliant on trust that they'll do the right thing based on nothing than hope. These rank amateurs have shown time and time again that they are totally incompetent. Why are we assuming this summer will be different?

And if the club has completely given up on our PL survival, why should the fans continue to pay PL prices?

This is one of my concerns about possibly changing manager again in the summer. Do we end up in a situation like last time we went down where the manager can't join until halfway through the summer? Will he then decide he wants time to review the squad in person? Will he decide players we should really be moving on from (Stephens for example) are worth another go?

But in fairness I'm not so worried about next season in itself. Assuming Ramsdale, Fernandes, Dibling and BBD all leave and we play the same formation as we play now we'd be looking at a first XI something like:

    Bazunu?
    THB, Bednarek, Wood
    Sugawara, two of Downes/Aribo/Charles, Wellington
    Gronbaek?/Armstrong? Sulemana
    Onuachu/Archer

Most of those players were either part of our last promotion or better than the player they're replacing and there are still some decent bench options. Which isn't a bad position really. I'd like upgrades on some of those players but I think we'd have some money to spend and lots of loans to make use of. So yeah, based on what we did last season and our last few games that's not a bad base to work from. For me the real issue isn't getting a good Championship squad together, it's having a squad that's good in the Championship AND can step up and/or be improved if we get promoted. If anything we'll need to get players out of the door, and I think the club may just have to suck it up and take a financial hit on some of them.

Looks like a chance Armstrong to WBA on loan might happen at last minute. Decent loan fee.

Makes sense. Really don’t want to see any more of Arma in PL games, we all know he’s way off it and is a good Championship striker and nothing more

So the complaint is that the club that's an absolute shambles from top to bottom, that is run by complete charlatans and frauds and filled with a load of dross that they cant get rid of has ....failed to sign MORE players.

So this time the players that the frauds and charlatans sign would have been complete diamonds?

The players we've signed actually seem to be good. Pleasant surprise.

Sounds like Armstrong to WBA is done. Decent window financially, would have been good to cash in on KWP though.

Hopefully SR spend the money we generated/saved wisely in the summer.
