Farmer Tony Martin, who shot dead a burglar in 1999, has died aged 80, his friend has said.

Martin was initially convicted of murdering 16-year-old Fred Barras but this was reduced to manslaughter on appeal.

He was living alone at his farmhouse in Emneth Hungate, Norfolk, which was nicknamed Bleak House, when he caught Brendon Fearon, then 29, and Barras inside.

He fired his pump-action shotgun three times towards the intruders, killing Barras and injuring Fearon.

Absolute tragic, sickening. RIP for the young lad, Harvey, 15 yrs, from Sheffield, knifed & murdered today at School. What is this country coming to? You expect that when your child goes to School that they will return home. Sincere thoughts & condolences to that poor family, & friends, that expected their son to return home tonight. Lost for words.

    RIP Harvey

The same school was locked down last week as well Tigress. Children told to stay in their classes as there was some sort of groups running amok. Based on that there should have been some sort of presence... no?... its reaching the point of no return.

Brian Murphy, the actor and comedian best known for his role in the 1970s British sitcoms Man About the House and George and Mildred, has died aged 92.

Murphy, who passed away at his home in Kent on Sunday morning, worked closely with theatre director Joan Littlewood throughout his early career.

More recently, he appeared in episodes of BBC medical drama Holby City, sketch programme The Catherine Tate Show and ITV sitcom Benidorm, as well as comedy show Last of the Summer Wine.

Paying tribute to his "talent and humanity", Murphy's friend and agent Thomas Bowington described him as a "joyful and profoundly good-hearted man".

I thought he was in his 60's when he was in George & Mildred, but I just checked and he was 44 when it started.

Those poor people in Sweden. For some reason these events don’t get as many mentions as when they happen in the USA.

RIP a name from my childhood
Newcastle United are saddened to hear of the death of popular former player John Tudor at the age of 78.

Best known for striking up a prolific partnership with Malcolm Macdonald - and for his terrace chant, 'Hallelujah, John Tudor' - the Ilkeston-born forward scored 72 goals in 219 appearances for the Magpies in all competitions.

He was part of the team which reached the FA Cup final in 1974 and also lifted the Anglo-Italian Cup and the Texaco Cup during his time on Tyneside.

Joining United in 1971 after spells with his hometown club, Ilkeston Town, Coventry City and Sheffield United, his aerial power and unselfishness made him an ideal foil for Macdonald.

He was a regular until suffering a knee ligament injury, then a change in manager and the arrival of Alan Gowling led to his transfer to Stoke City.

Retiring from the professional game due to his persistent knee problem, Tudor later returned to the North East when he became a publican in Bedlington at the Millfield Inn for a spell before moving back to his native Ilkeston.

The club's thoughts are with John's family and friends at this difficult time.

Hope this is ok to post if not it’s fine to delete.

seven years ago to this day…

    Indivisibly you…for David

    All sound lay silent

    the bells stopped

    but that day

    knew nothing at all.

    No wind whistling tree

    or sounds of honey bee

    but that day

    knew nothing at all.

    Oceans lay as glass

    ships could not pass

    but that day

    knew nothing at all.

    All Aircraft stood still

    no visiting thrill

    but that day

    Knew nothing at all.

    Time sat waiting

    on the very last clock

    but that day

    knew nothing at all.

    We watched you pass

    feet on snow covered grass

    on that last day

    we lost our beautiful soul.

    Rest in peace David.
