Gone are the days of me coppering up for a pint at the end of the night. Boom, Apple Pay. save that for the hard working, tax paying takeaways that are open to service my post beer hunger. Then straight up the next day for a haircut and shave from the HMRC funding Turkish barbers
I always use cash in a pub if it's just beer drinking (no food), mainly because I like going to the bar to order, rather than at a table (thinking Spoons here) but my lad always uses his phone. I've got a wallet on my phone, but no cards in it. Although I use store cards on my phone, so it's much the same process.
I use a few pubs locally and after they serve, all but spoons automatically brandish a card machine, spoons always ask, cash or card.
I've never so much as opened this thread once. No idea why, couldn't be arsed from the start and so just never have. Hardcore scat is like **** lovers or something, right? Am I missing anything?
It's not like you have to, places will always have to accept cash. Unless the conspiracy blokes are right and they phase it out if you don't use it. To me though, I no longer have to carry a wallet and I don't have to go to a machine, it's just there on my phone all the time. It's just easier. Paid for some flooring once which was around £2000 just tapped the phone, no idea what the limit is?
Cash is just handy to have though. Example yesterday. I did a small delivery to a shop £98 I usually do a zettle card reader transaction for something small like that. As it's not worth producing a full invoice with 28 days payment terms etc The shop owner initially went to pay with her phone, but it kept saying payment declined. So she trotted off to get her card, still saying declined. So she went and got another card, declined. So she then said she'd do BACS and that wouldn't go through either. So in the end she just got £100 out of the till lol
I've only ever been in a situation once in years when my phone wouldn't work my father had to pay so that last enforced his "load of nonsense" belief. I don't find cash handy I find it the opposite where I have to go and get it and remember that I need it.
I still take a card with me on holiday and it goes in the safe and isn't needed but it's there. I usually forget but would take it if I'm away for the weekend or something but I forget most of the time.
where as i never leave the house without my wallet but regularly do without my phone . When i'm out on the lash i empty my wallet of all cards so if i lose my wallet / get mugged all i lose is whats on me though it does mean i couldn't buy a round at one bar in town as they don't accept money for insurance reasons following a break in .
If you guys want a title change, just give me a new name for it and I'll happily apply it. I don't use the thread, but I think Luv, Sucky and Ern do, so just let me know any suggestions.
