JHT confirmed after the game that Cordoba missed out for disciplinary reasons. He woke up late and was therefore late to the Friday team meeting and JHT saw that missing this weekends game as punishment was only right. Big call from the boss considering how young our bench was anyway
He just shaded it over Sargent and, more surprisingly, Mahovo, both of whom scored 7.3 to Fisher's 7.5. Well done all of them and the whole team. Looks like Mahovo could be the next youth breakthrough.
I think it’s safe to say that Tom Cleverly dint enjoy today. Talk about sour grapes, he will be lucky if he escapes some sort of fine or ban for the way he talks about the ref here. He reckons our players throw themselves to the ground at any opportunity and are renowned for it? He thinks refs should research players they are about to referee
I particularly liked the bit when, having said he'd watched the red card incident back in slow motion and it was just a push in the chest, the reporter asked, rhetorically, whether he would be appealing against the sending off. It turned out he wasn't sure -- "you don't know who hears these appeals" On the basis of that interview, I think he's gone.
Still only 19, Mahovo had a pass success rate of 96% (46/49). Sheffield Utd may well consider him one who got away:
Should have been a red card for the tackle on Sarge, the covering defender would not have stopped him getting a shot off. Also the red card was almost to the face, Emmos head snaps back from the impact.
Yeah I thought it was upper chest when I saw the replay from the side, but when you see from the front (refs view - who was well placed) it looks like he catches Marcondes in the throat
