This is a great point, great idea. It's an awful look. It can't help the players. I suspect if pisses other fans off, especially those lower down in East Stand, having 'fans' trudge past in front of them when they're still watching the last 10 minutes. And why have a corner exit open anyway? Is there someone on here that can take this to the club for consideration? Fans committee or whatever.
What a difference a week makes, a typical week in the life of a City supporter, euphoria last Friday when City looked like world beaters to gutted that we couldn’t put a lower team around us to the sword, just no consistency. Normal service resumed. I thought a good game, we started off like a steam engine, early fab goal, we were hammering them 1 nil, but same old; City the gift that keeps on giving, don’t take our chances, we’ve always got defensive mistakes in us, cheap goals conceded. Thought overall we created enough good chances, just couldn’t get the onion bag to ripple, a combo of lack of quality, out of luck, their keeper being their MOM. We weren’t blessed with good refereeing either. The subs didn’t do us any favours, we looked weaker for making the changes, didn’t think the 3 together were needed. I can get why Ruben didn’t start with young Joseph, against a strong, physical Stoke side, early days but Joseph and Barry had a harsh intro to the championship, they looked like fish out of water, boys against men. Hope I’m wrong, but don’t see they will be the answer to our lack of goals. I don’t know what the answer is to our home woes, but maybe time to try turning us around playing to North stand 2nd half. At least any 50/50 ref decisions, against a more vocal home crowd end, we may get favour. (That’s not to say, a group of us did try really hard in South yest.)
Random side-rant (if anybody is a representative on here at those meetings). How on earth are the club charging over £6 for a small slab of brownie? We do food really well but that's over the top. Noticed the prices have been creeping up and some of the screens in the West Upper at one point had the same item at different prices on different screens - probably why two of them are now just switched off. That said, there does need to be a fixed full menu somewhere too for the more permanent items on display as that may help the queues slightly instead of people standing in the way of the queues watching the screens to see what's on offer.
Otherwise, I thought we played well for large parts of the game and just didn't take our changes. The pitch is absolutely awful.
Watching the EFL highlights this morning, our pitch situation isn’t unique. Quite a few of the pitches look a mess, I think the wet weather on several matchdays has taken its toll. Though there is clearly an issue at the MKM with the pitch re-lay as well.
Excellent post...Really says it all and sums it up in 400 words. I'm coming down from the anger I felt last night. Following City can be the most frustrating emotion you're ever going to experience in your life.. It's been the same for the past 20...30 years...So much potential, so many broken promises. So many false dawns. I should have weened myself off City, but still keep going back like a fecking idiot. City till I die, I guess has stuck...FFS.
Think that’s way off , he runs about a lot never quite making it , he makes few tackles and is only useful when running at pace with the ball . Alzate isn’t as energetic but his control composure and play is streets ahead . Matazo did Slaters running first half hence he tired later in the second . I keep trying to justify to myself Slaters full match playing but those around me yesterday were also asking why he stays on .
Was it Morecambe's pitch which looked like a beach that had had 200 beach buggies on it 10 mins prior to kick off...How the hell they play on that is beyond me. MKM is like BP at its preseason best in comparison.
Is there anyone for the someone to take this to? Who is running the club on a day to day basis since Tan left? Clearly not Acun and clearly this isn't a sporting directors job. Same with the pitch. Year ago at 1904 club forum Tan said it would be sorted in the summer. Who is accountable now?
Just on ‘the problem’ we still predominantly don’t have good running and movement into good spaces to threaten . Mazato was playing strong on the deck passes yesterday which weren’t used well enough , I hope this comes , we’ve got to get away from static passing .
Fairly sure you will run head first into health and safety regulations suggesting closing the corner exit. Your point still stands though but the answer will probably be down to how the stadium was designed and built. It's rugbys fault.
Last point but the two small Oriental players for them ran the game from deep , energetic great control and CD a real mobile threat , we lacked that .
Slater is ideal for bringing on as a sub to stretch the opposition but he’s not great defensively, is very limited with his passing and the less said about his finishing, the better. I just don’t see how him being a ‘runner’ justifies his place in the starting XI when we now have far better box-to-box midfielders who can run but also have better end product and are less wasteful in possession. If you’re playing a midfield three with Alzate as a number 6 and two number 8s, I have no idea why you’d pick Slater ahead of Matazo, Crooks or Puerta. His last good game for us was when he came on as a sub and scored against Stoke away under Walter. That was months ago. I don’t think he’s a bad player but in terms of ability he’s the fourth-best box-to-box midfielder we have fit.
I certainly don’t feel a need to take a daily dump on Slater’s head - but I was also surprised that Matazo came in for Crooks and not Regan. Suspect Ruben has learned a lesson.
Always really impressed with players from that part of the world. I do wish we would explore that market.
I have no idea why you’d drop Crooks or Joseph for that. I can maybe understand the Jacob one. Crooks has the experience we so badly need and the height and strength.
