The changes were to bring Pedro back in and rotate a sore crooks for matazo, who scored. People are really grasping at straws to explain the loss.
might want to check the replays. Even Gelhardt knew what he was doing, had a rueful smile afterwards.
Urgh that was so disappointing. I still maintain we’re starting to pick up enough points consistently to stay in the league but I’m so sick of losing at home. Not sure what happened after their player went off injured in the first half but that felt like the change. Did we go into cruise control early thinking we’d won it? Did we get nervy? Not sure but whatever happened is bloody irritating. Matazo looks good, thought Kamara had a good game. Strange to take him off when he did - he was getting past his full back regularly, Amarabat looked very good - Crooks looked like he did against QPR and not Sheff Utd. If we do go down it’ll be because of lack of consistency. We’ve got ability - Selles needs to work out how to use it more regularly.
This is what a top quality goalkeeper gives you, who apparently is **** because he doesn’t do 19 keepy uppies and hit first time 90 yard diagonal balls out to the wings. Easily the best goalkeeper in the division made sure we got no points today.
Fair enough you probably have a better view. Could see clear contact with his ankle though from where I was might’ve been his other foot mind
I thought the ref had a poor game, as did the linesman in front of the East Stand. Not sure if it was a penalty but if it’s a dive then he should’ve booked Gelhardt. He gave neither a pen nor booked Gelhardt. He was indecisive all game.
Thought we were very good first 30, other than failing to get the 2nd. But wouldn't say Stoke were very poor, or poor at all. They wrestled control of the game, fair play to them. No idea why Puerta doesn't get on. And as earlier posts, our defence does need improving, and now. Coyle with Drameh as back up (only back up) should be enough to see out the season if needs be, but left needs improving now, and ideally a better CB. In summer it's time for major surgery at the back, not just for defending but playing out from the back, overlapping, aerial threat from set pieces, etc.
Same with the one on Pedro first half? Was that given as a dive or handball? Looked to have got away then he was dragged down
Yeah Kamara going off instead of Geldhart was a strange one, he was the better player of the two and looked more likely to make something happen. Also would’ve taken slater off for Puerta, for all his good forward running he just does nothing with it after and usually loses it.
He kicked it straight out of play for a throw in a few times and generally wasteful with the ball, wouldn’t want him near our side thank you. Rather our keeper had no arms but passed it like Pirlo.
Today was another reminder of why we’re in the position we’re in. We’re going to lose games in the run-in and some of them will be against teams around us. Luckily, the result against Sheffield United just about balances things out. Hopefully we can find that level again as we’re probably going to need 4 points, minimum, from Burnley, Norwich, and Sunderland.
The takeaway from that game is, we should sign Victor Johansson, even if he never plays, because every time he plays against us he has a worldie. But also we need to be way more clinical. Way more.
since we relaid the pitch we've only won twice on it in 18 games did we get the grass from an ancient indian burial ground? wales hates the kc though...
