Just pointing out that the phrase "re-open a gap" suggests that there is no longer one. Anyway, the biggest gap we had was 9 pts, so 6 with a game in hand isn't that much of a loss, and as you say, others will drop points as well. I'm not shouting the odds here, but we're in a strong position, and the notion of "relying on others" suggests that we're not good enough to do well enough by ourselves. Put it this way, I'd rather be in our position than anyone else's.
I don't really disagree. We are in a good position, and I wouldn't swap with anyone. In my opinion, we're the most likely team to win... I'm just acknowledging the fact that it's almost certain we will lose points in the last 5 or 6 games. We're in the best position now, but if we were only 6 pts up on April 1st, I would probably not consider us favourites (I do now).
I think we all still have anxious feelings and just want it done the best part of winning our first in 30 years was that we just ****ing marched away with it, no drama (well apart from covid nearly stealing it away)!!! Titles are typically tough, even city have won 3 or 4 of them with a single result to separate 2nd. We are good enough though, we’re not up there by fluke
Usually the team that is on top of the table on Christmas day wins the league. It is not guaranteed but it's the first criteria. We are six points clear of Arsenal. Goal difference also in our favour if no team gets any points better than us in the remaining games in the league the title is ours. However, we cannot count our chickens before they are hatched we just have to keep on pushing until the finishing lines.
I beleive everyone looked at the start of season at all of our fixtures right? Usually looking for games after international we can be ****ed over in, Christmas and the run in. I beleive.nobody seriously believed we would be near the situation we are in now either. I thought we would need to be comfortable in 4th in those last 5 games as they were tough. Now we are top of the table with a side that won't give up (only really.missing saka now) chasing. imo those who looked at the 5 games at the end are now looking at the games are even more difficult as its not a case of just getting through to 70 points. It's the "what if" arsenal do win. What if chelsea beat us at their patch. 6 points gone in a week. All the clubs are going to be trading punches as we go but someone is going to go on a run at some point and lord help us if it's city. This game is now key. This is match week 24 and our two main rivals play. Win this and one really is in trouble. Then the match in hand is a coup de grace. 23rd Feb is man city away. That feel then like a huge hurdle. Then finally the cl starts and all those other hopes start popping. Thst gap just doesn't feel enough as being in the position was unexpected so the fiath in tjr team delivering might not be as high as it might have been under prime klopp. When we were running for a quad we had city and it was win or die every week and an easy scenario. But now we have a leaky defence, are reliblant on one forward and can only **** ot up ourselves so it's only natural to expect they will given the fact they blew up last year under klopp I suppose the elation at thr end will be all the higher if it comes off which would be classic lfc roller coaster.
please log in to view this image Liverpool: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson: Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Gakpo, Diaz Substitutes: Kelleher, Quansah, Bradley, Tsimikas, Endo, Elliott, Jones, Jota, Nunez
Jones made the bench eh? Two strikers. Both half fit. We won't have any bench impact i suppose. Still very best team out and no injuries left
Now Robertson. That's a stupid thing to do. Clear it or pass it. Don't thigh it down to nobody and set them.up in your half.
I can't see the contact. It's not offside. Ref has let loads go that are pretty clear stuff from both sides. So now he's given that from and it's very slight contact but I couldn't see it on replays very much and one angle showed nothing at all.
Goal and I kind of need to see thst again on motd to tell me why Bournemouth were robbed as I assume they will do 10mins on it.
Szoboszlai needs to wake up and we need a couple.more to win this. They are all over us when they go.
Clear offside but absolutely clear pen push Hilarious gsme. They are walking through us on the right which is normal against a lot of teams. Why slot doesn't swap salah and szoboszlai at times I don't know. Szoboszlai could run up and down the right here.
