Best chance to go up imo is this season 3 players needed to have any chance - striker winger and full back. Squad has no depth in those positions and other 3 getting stronger
I think you'll see at least one club lose today and panic buy before the deadline. If Leeds don't win today their fans will panic considering they've done no business
Hence why I said the club keeps things quiet, we used to get rumours weeks before anything happened. Now it only seems to come out when deal is done or nearly done.
Exactly. The post linking us links Burnley. Nothing is done. We are 10 times the club they are and a tricky winger would be ping there to die defending. Wonder if he knows Romaine? Get on the blower lad!
They're trying to offload him after 6months because he doesn't fit their style of play anymore - just signed Gouiri yesterday too. Think there could be a decent deal to be made but it's always hard to predict fees - I would have expected Edwards to be much more than it sounds like he is.
Not at all. Rowe has proven himself at this level and is a bastard to play against. Argue that Edwards has a bit more flair but Rowe better end product. Either be a very good add.
Burnley/Sheff UTD playing a deadly game. As which one doesn’t go up (or both) they will be at risk of FFP. so let them get themselves into trouble
I blame the posters a couple of days ago saying it’s very quiet and there’s no rumours to talk about. Since then we’ve had bids for Watson, speculation about jobe and now edwards is going to Burnley Was never going to be straight forward with Sunderland was it lads
I must say that i'm a hell of a lot calmer about our situation than I have been for a long time heading into a January deadline. I think we need another attacker but I wouldn't say we are desperate like we were in 22/23 when Simms was recalled and Stewart got injured or last year when our forwards just weren't good enough. I think we'll sign one forward and i'd be fine with that.
How is it "clear his agent is inviting approaches"? From what I gather, it's the same club who have approached in 2 different windows. Even if his agent was doing that, that's his job. He can go into the next contract negotiation and say "This lad is so good that a top Premier League team are interested" and it immediately strengthens the negotiating position. It's just part of the game.
Definitely not desperate at all assuming we keep the first teamers at the club beyond this window, imo.
One extra player doesn’t suddenly give us depth, nor does the failure to sign one immediately mean we are left short. additions would be good, especially up front but it doesn’t represent a missed chance nor does it suddenly guarantee we aren’t getting promoted.
If the edwards deal is a permanent that’s the big challenge we have against the parachute payment clubs. Loan deals we can be competitive as the wages won’t be factored in but we won’t be able to match the permanent fees.
