Yeah I can't say for sure what it is but he seems to be a bit of a wrongun
Would make some sense to go from so highly rated to binned to France for a low fee.
Yeah agreed. Clarke seemed like one of the most magnificent one trick ponies about. World beater at championship level but just doesn't look like he can replicate it at the top. Ipswich was a bad footballing move mind. Another team might make use of him.
Really really hope we get some news of incomings today. If today goes by without anything I’ll start to get worried. We need the depth
I'd be disappointed if he left, so would the players imo ... ... some of them have virtually gone from boys to men during his time there. Going from being 'bib monitor' to first team starter must be great and Dodds has played his part.
I’ve really not seen enough of Watson to say whether he’s going to be top quality. At the moment I prefer Mundle and I think he’ll be a far better player than Clarke. Clarke was great for us but other teams sussed how to stop him because he did the same thing over and over. He should have been coached to add more variety. Clarke’s career seems to have stalled but he’d have been better staying here to let RLB work on him. I don’t know what Watson is thinking. Does he think he’s proved himself and deserves a prem move? Does he think his development will be as good as or better at Brighton? Might not be either and he could end up doing ok at Brighton but there are enough cautionary tales around that he should make sure he considers absolutely everything.
I've mentioned this before, as part of my 'pretendy itk about everything' routine, but it's worth repeating imo. A mate, who comes to Sunderland games despite being Liverpool, has a teenage daughter who's playing in the Chelsea first team. So he was her 'chaperone' and went to her training sessions, matches, etc. He's also got to know some of the Chelsea coaches on the men's side of things over the years. He was at Kingsmeadow, where Sunderland played, and talking to one of the coaches who said, 'Sunderland have a licence to print money up there, anyone who goes is checked out and his value goes up'. It's not 100% true but it's great that the majority of players have become more valuable simply by being here.
I understand the model and the club are seemingly unemotional about these things, but I really hope Watson stays.
I don’t want Jobe to leave and I really don’t think he will yet but how worried do you think RLB will be now we’ve got Le Fee? Jobe would be a big loss but doesn’t this mitigate it somewhat?
Don't think much will happen today, when it gets to this stage in the window it nearly always seems to go to last day of the window before things happen
Is it only me who has a hunch Watson wants away? He nearly went before. They wouldn’t keep coming back if they weren't being encouraged by his camp.
