Of course that’s a risk, but he could also risk staying here and flop whilst being on less money. I’m sure Hendo doesn’t look at his CL winners medal and wishes he stayed here. Just part of the game unfortunately mate and Brighton will make themselves appear as attractive as possible to Watson. Nobody can begrudge him leaving
I disagree. Brighton are a very good settled premier team. Currently much “bigger” in football terms than we are. It’d be very good for him
What I mean is, we want to keep him and won't sanction a move unless he's asked to. We're not going to sell him to raise funds, for example.
I dont think there is much doubt Watson has the biggest upside to his development. Brighton arent the only club who have followed his progress here closely. When you look at him play, despite his inexperience, he has a natural grace and movement that sets him in great stead for the future. I think he will be a star. I have been pondering. I dont think he will be keen on a move personally. He has all his family here, and is meant to be close with Rigg. When you saw him get his first goal, what joy for him and his mates. My only concern is if the club need a bit of a cash injection for a tfr push. The Clarke and Stewart money cant be spent twice.
Wrexham signing Sam Smith from Reading for 2m and Jay Rodriguez. Some serious money being splashed in L1 this season.
i agree, particularly given that he’s recovering from an injury and hasn’t kicked a ball since November. He’s sick of u21 football so don’t think he’ll go, might get a big new contract though to fend off interest.
Mundle isn’t in his way. We’ve shown that the opportunity is there. It isn’t really at Brighton or at least it’s less likely to be. Essentially if he wants to go then we need to do our best to make it a good deal for us and him but I think that can wait until summer to decide without damage to either party.
I think given they bid 4 in the summer and got rejected, that 5 would be insulting given how he's looked. 10 minimum for me upfront. Heard hints he doesn't want to sign a new deal. A few could be in that boat though of waiting for the Prem
