Despite only picking up a point against Scott Parker's team, they move two points clear of Sheffield Utd in second place, who were mauled last weekend by the Tigers. In the reverse fixture last September, Joel Bagan's challenge on Wilfred Gnonto (when clean through on goal) led to Cardiff playing the last sixty-five minutes with ten men. Goals from Largie Ramazani and Joel Piroe saw the Whites record a comfortable 2-0 victory that day. If Farke's men can complete the double, it will be the first time since the 2015-16 season. Leeds are top of the Championship, 17 places and 29 points ahead of Omer Riza's team, yet Cardiff are unbeaten in seven, and have one of the best forwards in the division with Callum Robinson, who has netted 11 times in just 1400 minutes of game time this season. Cardiff have 14 different goalscorers this season, but have scored 20 less than Leeds who are on 53. Pascal Struijk has put himself in contention to play on Saturday after returning to full training on Tuesday. The 25yo has missed most of the new years action with a hamstring strain. Given his importance to the team, he will likely start on the bench. Patrick Bamford (hamstring) and Max Wober (knee) will again miss out! Erol Bulut could name an unchanged starting XI after last weekend's 2-1 victory over Derby County, despite new signing Sivert Mannsverk pushing for a debut in midfield. Anwar El Ghazi, who impressed with a goal from the bench, is vying for a starting spot, potentially challenging Ashford, Robertson, or Willock for a place behind the striker. Injuries continue to sideline Aaron Ramsey, David Turnbull, and Ollie Tanner.
Heading for bed shortly. Bus collecting us at 5am. Really looking forward to trip with 32 travelling to this one. Cmon the Galway whites
You've missed it mate! 30th January is today. Good job in fairness, tactical masterclass from Erol Bulut.
Good post, ellandback. Looking forward to this one and I fancy we might come away with a point. By the way, Erol Bulut is long gone.

Go back to our very first game against Cardiff in 1921 and its doesn't make the reading any better Played 65 Won 20 (30.8%) Drawn 16 (24.6%) Lost 29 (44.6%) Although I am not sure where the (i presume) BBC got their stats from, as out home record against Cardiff is Played 33, Won 13, Drawn 9 and Lost 11 Where as away from home our record is Played 32, Won 7, Drawn 7 and Lost 18
We already have double figures for home wins, those stats Lee posted are unfortunately incorrect (looks like typical BBC research at my guess) We've won 10 times at home in League games and 3 times at home in the cup
Arronson's looked knackered last few games. I'd rest him, perhaps play Solomon in a more central role with Ramazani on the left flank. I'd also bring Firpo back to give Byram a break. Rothwell should come back due to his set pieces, alongside Gruev (fresh legs). ------------------Meslier------------------- Bogle----Rodon---Ampadu---Firpo ------------Rothwell---Gruev----------- James------Solomon-----Ramazani --------------------Piroe-------------------
Wonder if we'll score from a corner or freekick. We do it once evey 5 years or so. Could be our year.
Not sure about this. Solomon is the best winger at the club so why move him? Gnonto is the only wide player we have that looks capable of moving central.
Decent match day thread folks, though our gaffer is now Omer Riza not Erol Bulut Fully expecting you lot to win but hoping we can put up a decent fight... We have a good record at your place, fingers crossed we continue it!!
