Just double-checked and it's still tribunals for u24s. Of course that is only for transfers within England. Can move abroad for much lower numbers IIRC
I heard Brighton bid around 3 million i the summer For me it starts at double that now, plus add ons depending how he gets on I do think we are the best club for his development but Brighton wouldn't be a bad move for the lad I want him to stay as his upside is incredible, plus he can help us immediately as well If we were to sell him I'd be all over getting Clarke back
I heard that the club turned down a 3m offer for Tommy from Brighton last summer. I really hope he stays.
Would have to be a permanent return to make it worth our while. Would imagine that would be a tough gap for a Watson transfer to bridge.
Yep, just since Monday. Best thing I've ever done for my mental health and its only been 4 days Also leaving my iPhone in my home office so I'm completely off the internet full stop after 6pm has been great, although I didn't do that last night as the rumours got exciting . Once the transfer window closes I'll be off the internet after 6pm each day. Like a good boy.
If Watson wants to go though we have the maximise our return and ensure the squad is in a better place when he goes Mundle is still young so not like we don't have a very exciting LM already at the club. I do think Watson has more upside than both tbh but if he wants to go and won't sign a new deal this window might be the best to sell him
What would be an acceptable price for Watson? For me, it would be at minimum £6m with add ons on top of that alongside a hefty sell on percentage. I don't mind selling (as you all know) and this is a part of the cycle. We are going to lose players we don't necessarily want to lose while we are on the journey back to where we want to be, even then it will still happen.
I don't think there's much gained by selling him now tbh. I doubt the reduction in fee for running all the way to a tribunal would be significant. And in the mean time we have access to a talented player who may yet sign a new deal. Selling Watson for circa £5m and bringing in Clarke on loan doesn't do much for me - and risks us being in a much worse place at the start of next season IMO.
I would say £7 million with a similar amount in performance related bonuses plus a sell on % They bid £3 million based on him playing youth football, since then he's proven he can play at Championship level so I think that doubles the fee The add ons would be based on him breaking into the Brighton 1st team
Brighton may have £60m+ burning a hole in their pocket later today, as the Saudi transfer window closes tonight. Their winger Mitoma is being linked to Al-Nassr. If that does happen, then we shouldn't be accepting less than £10m for Watson.
Do you think there is a realistic fee that Brighton would pay that would make that much of a significant difference to us? £6m is a good fee for someone with his amount of senior appearances, but does that amount really make a huge difference to us now when you factor in his potential upside? If you are getting in excess of £10m then its a different story but dont see Brighton paying anything like that. Id keep personally.
If Watson would go would you then buy Isidor permanently with the money for Watson, so you can free up a loan space and then hypothetically loan Clarke and Marcus Edwards/Willem Guebbels?
