It is the same in the sense that, whilst neither impact you financially, the financial aspects of transfers impacts the success of the football club.
I get your logic but I think having an extra £8m in the bank next season will benefit us significantly more than an extra 3 or 4 points this season (which is not guaranteed either way).
6 to 8m yes, I agree. But anything much less than that, I'd say no. Certainly not the 3-4 million that some people seem content with.
I thought Saudi football was attracting players at the end of their careers but Duran is just 21. I suppose by going there at such a young age, he can return to a competitive league after a couple of years, should he want to.
It’s a mixture really. The really high profile players are the older players but a fair few highly rated players in their mid/early 20s have gone as well.
Meh, I wouldn't be actively looking to sell him at this point but he's clearly well down the pecking order under Juric and I'm not convinced he's the type of striker that will succeed at Premier League level.
No but it is being widely reported that Leeds want him, The Athletic are running it too. He is probably our best striker. I'd like to see him in better circumstances.
Can only assume Archer has a relegation release clause, because we absolutely need him in the Championship.
I'd be a bit disappointed to sell at this juncture, but I totally see the logic in letting him find his confidence and racking up some goals for a team in the promotion race for six months before we drop back down to Champ level
I would understand a straight loan but it is the rumoured insistence on the obligation to buy that I am worried by. Hopefully it is just a rumour.
Yep unfortunately this is what happens when you sell the good and keep the **** over many years. You’re left with a bunch of unsellable crap. We are in the exact same position as Manchester United at the moment. No one wants the low effort crap that’s filling the bench and the first team that we desperately need to offload. So the only bids are for the best players. We will struggle to sell anyone that isn’t Dibling or Sulemana because they are the only two doing anything. Some clubs may want to loan others but that’s all yer getting. Unfortunately this is all a mess of the clubs on making.
So just to get this right, we bought a load of ****e Championship level players in the summer. Unsurprisingly they've not been very good and we sit rock bottom of the PL effectively relegated before Christmas. So SR in their infinite wisdom decide now is the time to sell said Championship players and not buy anyone else. What the actual **** is going on? An attempt at asset stripping before they **** off?
On the plus side if we let Archer go out on loan this month you'll be collecting from me 4 months early
I don't see any reason to be worried about Archer leaving. He's not a key player for us and, while he might do well in the Championship, he's not (yet?) a proven performer at that level. I also suspect we're going to be playing in a way that works better with a big striker in the Pelle/Lambert mould rather than someone like Archer.
