I thought it was tbh, had some big names in it which made some think it was better than it was Pretty much had no legs, no pace and very little physicality in it It's in the past now and I hope we never gi back to having a squad like that ever again
and here lies a major reason for our late goals teams throw on a big man (we haven’t got one to do this ourselves) and lump balls up we’ve got a cb that doesn’t win many aerial duels. Mepham is in a good spot like but O9 doesn’t win enough and when he gets put on a target man he can’t counter it interestingly Ballard would fall above mepham in line with mcloughlin edit - he’s added Ballard
Plymouth Blackburn Coventry 3 major ones that cost us 3 points. But just because the others aren’t direct from that, teams start lumping the ball up and putting us under pressure because we can’t win the header
Coventry I don't count because they dominated us the entire second half. Was glad for a point at the end of that
why aren’t Leeds and burnley conceding late goals then? Both burnley Defenders identified in those charts as less dominant in the air than 09 and 1 of the Leeds centre half’s. personally I’m not blaming the defence wholly, when we look to see a game out we drop too deep and stop applying any real pressure to the ball. This means the opposition can put in better quality balls from more advanced areas and then any deficiencies in the air are exploited more ….ball drops in the box and it is falling in a really dangerous area of the pitch stepping up further and pressing the ball will help as the balls are hit from much deeper and with much less quality. admittedly you can’t press all the time and sometimes the press can be broken and this is where the defence so come in which is at all costs prevent the cross.
