I said it yesterday I’d be disappointed if we don’t sign a striker to add to our firepower. RLB has said he’s wanted one all window so would be a tad disappointing to me if we didn’t manage to get one. Still time, there’s still time
I trust KS and co with this process too. It's a delicate balance to get right given the squad size, the injury situation and the number of players we have out on loan. As far as I'm aware, only Rusyn has gone and I expected to see Anderson,Ba and Bennette go too....they could still do. With Seelt on his way back and if Abdoullahi can fulfil some of his promise,I don't think we need much more. I'd like some info on when we expect Mundle,Watson and Browne to be available mind, with 17 matches left to play, are they going to be able to make any contribution?
There's still 5 days. I'd expect nothing to happen until Sunday at the earliest. Honestly though, I've done two things this week and its done wonders for my mental health. 1) come off twitter. and 2) left my phone in my home office so I can't access it after 6pm. Stops the aimless refreshing to see if there is news. First night was hard but each night since has been brilliant.
What happened to the Frigan and Turkish Aguero rumours? Akpom seems dead too... surely we have something up our sleeves if we are 'going for it' this season. Haway Speakman
The club probably have several options ready to activate but are sensibly waiting to see if their first choice (or someone even better) becomes available before pulling the trigger.
Aye someone told me we have bids in for multiple players. just gotta get the deal over the line for one of them
It’s the same every window, we get to this point and everyone starts getting twitchy (not having a go for it, appreciate it’s just cos they care about the club) but then the pounce into action on deadline day, deadline day is when we get the majority of our business done
4 signings in summer on deadline day, Aouchiche and Pembele year before that. The infamous Jay Matete, Defoe deadline day
We’ve have deals on the table. just selling club is waiting to see if they can get a better offer else where before deciding. this is what I’m telling myself. no up date at all so sorry.
I hope Ba goes, for his sake. Got a bit of a soft spot for him, he looked great coming on against Watford away when he first arrived (when Jewi equalised). Realise he’s not everyone’s cup of tea and I accept he’s no longer in contention, but for his own sake I hope the next move is a good one for him. I think he should find somewhere that suits his style and play in a fixed position (LW) and think there is a player in there. I suspect he might have picked up a slight injury which the club haven’t revealed for fear of scaring suitors away, cos he hasn’t been in a matchday squad since November ish (including the u21s)
I'm not sure he's talked about it that much tbh. This is what he said a few days ago, "For sure, this is clear now, a new striker is not as vital as it once was,” he said. “Probably we still need some more vertical threats, players who could run in behind. This could be a striker but also a winger, maybe a versatile player. So this is still very much in our mind, but we will see what comes in these next weeks. But it is not necessarily about a number nine.”
It’s a by-product of showing ‘ambition’. If you target a higher calibre of player they’re going to have other (potentially better) offers and be harder to obtain. Le Fee is obviously an exception to that due to the Le Bris connection.
