Jhon Duran to Al Nassr for £70m+.

    Chasing that Saudi dough.

Don’t suppose the Saudis fancy one or two of ours?

Madness, throwing his career away for the money. On the plus side, means Arsenal won’t be getting Watkins

    Absolutely nuts.

It does make the mind boggles...is a person earning £400k a week really that much happier/have that many more opportunities than someone earning £120k?

Boniface also heading to Saudi it seems. 25 years old.

Only thing I can assume is footballers being in the life they are probably see it as how we'd see a promotion/ change of job from a £30k salary to a £50k one.

I think the Boniface deal is dead though as it was a choice between him or Duran for Al Nassr.

You sometimes hear pundits argue that they are taking the Saudi money so they will be "set up for life" (same argument with the Liv Golf). Makes you wonder how much more it is possible to be set up.

And my personal bugbear on the lines of what CK said, is one person winning £100 million on Euromillions that much happier than winning £10 million (or 100 people winning £1 million). It's nuts money. I'm working out if I can retire on far (far) less than they earn in a week.

what an absolute waste, but was obviously hungry like the wolf for money.

But he obviously had a view to a kill his career.

and that’s also the end of my Duran Duran jokes because this isn’t an ordinary world of football anymore.

will be watching from afar and witnessing his career come undone.

Is there something I should know about this move? I guess he will be able to say I got My Own Way, and he may become Notorious for this move. Equally he maybe left with careless memories of his time in Saudi, so lets save a prayer for him.

    You're focusing on his surname.

I can't move on from the fact that the h in his first name is in the wrong place.

    So bloody annoying.

Maybe but a rise from £30k to £50k makes an enormous difference to the quality of life a person can lead. I've been there myself (not overnight of course) and you go from never being able to travel abroad to being able to afford a proper holiday. Suddenly unexpected bills like car repairs or medical treatment don't knock you out for months on end...you can absorb them.

There really isn't much someone on £400k per week can afford that someone on £150k can't. Maybe a slightly fancier supercar or a villa on the beach instead of two roads away. The difference is so superficial.

I guess it comes back to my thoughts about Whiteman and Austin. If I had that level of natural talent, I wouldn't want to waste it either sitting on a bench (at best) or playing in a joke league.

    I’ve never actually noticed that.

my jokes stem from the fact that if you say his first name and surname quickly enough, it actually sounds like “Duran Duran”. It’s not just the surname!!

It's greed, pure and simple.Decent enough player, but a reprehensible human being.
I previously would have wanted us to bid for him, but I'm bloody glad now we didn't buy him.
    **** him!

He can't be Serious! Could have gone anywhere on Planet Earth - even Rio!

He’s clearly Hungry Like The Wolf for more cash. He needs bringing back down to Planet Earth.

i was trying to get this one in, but couldn’t think how to do it! In the end it was someone else not me who cracked it!
I’m sure Luke’s not bothered. Tonight united are playing and he’s got much more to worry about. <laugh>

I must admit. I'm totally amazed. We can't win a league game.We play a Europa game minus 12 players out injured, get another injured.....then along comes a 20 year old with a goal, followed by a 19 year old with another and then shell shocked by a 17 year old historical record breaker!Tottenham football fans could finish up in the nut house!
