Most of it isn't worth listening to anyway. It's amazing how many good or even great players make terrible pundits.
Funny, of course is subjective. I didn't think the video was hateful or negative, or that it intended to be. It is of course perpetuating a stereotype... And naturally, if it were a black referee running around with a bucket of fried chicken it would of course be incredibly offensive. The gay people I know don't seem to be offended by the flamboyant stereotype and almost seem to like to encourage it and laugh about it too... That might be akin to the "only Jewish people can make Jewish jokes" rule though. The sitcom "Modern Family" played heavily into the gay-neurotic stereotype and the gay community loved it. Also, what was that sitcom in the 90's about a gay guy and his female best friend? That played into all the gay stereotypes and that community loved it. I think as a whole the gays tend to like a good laugh at themselves as long as the intent isn't hateful or dismissive. Of course, I'm sure there are some people who would be offended by the video though.
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme, with the incomparable Kathy Burke. Will and Grace was my favourite though, and 'Just Jack' my favourite character. Also loving Smoggy Queens too (perhaps because as I write this I'm in my daughter's house in 'Boro). All involve gay people camping it up and taking the piss out of themselves, but always straight people as well. Maybe, as you alluded to though, it's okay for black people to ridicule themselves, but not for others. Again I say though, in the case of Coote I was ridiculing his cynical manipulation of his sexuality to gain sympathy and deflect from what he had done, not his gayness per se.
City and Real through so will defo be very real threats Expect City to start to claw it back against us in the league too but we shall see
That's terrible! Over half a dozen people having to be evacuated! Joking aside, I hope there was no harm to anyone.
It's terrible... but fire stories always make me think of this: It's absolutely horrible that it's phrased in such a funny way-due to it being terrible that it was phrased in a funny way.
It's true, you can't step out into the street anywhere in Italy without someone making you an offer you can't refuse.
