We've gone from bottom three, looking like we were heading towards a relegation scrap at best, to 13th, with a good chance of getting into the top ten if good form continues, despite the blip in the last match. That 0-2 loss to Sheffield Wednesday was our first loss in 5 games, and our first league loss in 2025. The four wins that preceded that defeat lifted us away from the relegation zone, and at one point even looked like we had a sniff at the playoffs...but I reckon that is highly unlikely now. Our top scorer is still Michael Frey with 5. Our opponents and hosts on Saturday, Millwall, have had a more steady season, sitting in mid-table for almost the whole season. On October 1st they were 15th, November 1st - 10th, December 1st - 10th, January 1st - 13th and they sit 14th going into February. Can't decide if I am jealous of the mid-table steadiness or if I'd find it boring and frustrating...but of course I'd rather that to a bottom three scrap. Discuss below. Their top scorer is Duncan Watmore with 5 goals, so the same as our top scorer...a rarity. One positive is that they played yesterday (Tuesday), and beat Pompey 0-1, so they won't have had as long to rest and prepare for this game as us. Comments from Xavi Calm, assistant head coach, as Marti isn't well; “We are very happy to be in a good trend,” he said. “We wanted to carry this on (last weekend) but it was not possible. “We all know the last game was not our best game, we are not happy with our performance. “Maybe we didn’t deserve the result that we got but football is not about deserving, it is about achieving. “The most important thing is to try to win the game after a defeat and get into another good trend. “It is not easy after a defeat but it is maybe the most important moment for a group to show we are united and strong.” Calm worked with Cifuentes in Spain at Unió Esportiva Rubí, UE Sant Andreu and CE L'Hospitalet, and again at Hammarby in Sweden before joining the R’s in November 2023. ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Thanks Dave. I always find Millwall a tricky, nasty fixture to navigate and given our loss on Saturday, i'd take a draw now to steady the ship. They seem to have a northern temperament about them, stubborn and gritty, and this could be a difficult game. As you said, having had a game last night will certainly do them no favours. Think i'd take mid-table mediocrity over scrabbling down at the bottom but would much prefer competing within the top 10 for a possible play-off place over either of those two
What is a good 1 mile cycle time? A good 1 mile time is 02:56. This is the average 1 mile time across all ages and genders.
It's a pity we've got this after a confidence boosting win for them and the converse for us. I predicted a draw for this one and would gladly take the one all now, unless Marti has a last minute magical signing up his sleeve.
I did wonder about adding a 'return on a bike' line that would be triple the time because you'd walk it carrying a lock and a bike frame.
Best away day of the season in this league of bowl stadiums on retail parks. Bit of Borough market and London Bridge pubs before in high spirits before an insipid 2-0 defeat to an early set piece and late counter.
Nice one Dave Let's hope for some of the famed bouncebackability and continue our ascent to safety Good luck to all those going Up the R's!
Thanks Dave Havent been back since, I nearly got pushed over and trampled in the melee to get to a train when held up by the police for over 40 minutes for our own safety. They rammed us into a train so you could barely breathe . Horrible experience and we lost too. Travel safe you who go. The big question fir this afternoon is....will Jimmy be there?
lol don’t you just know it. local match for me, so easier to get to than HQ. currently sat in a pub in Deptford with a few too many bald fifty somethings in stone island
