Can remember Ellison going on one of his runs with his head down. He actually ran out of pitch on realising when he ran over the touch line. Must of been like that scene in Forest Gump afterwards when everyone shouted when to stop.
Has anyone got a good clip of Barry? Fastest player we’ve ever had is a big claim, he doesn’t look particularly pacey in the videos on YouTube but has top finishing
I was trying to think of who would be in that conversation in recent times.. Robbo? Can't think of too many out and out pacey wingers we've had. Turbo? Bowen?
Off the top of my head; Delap, Turbo, Bowen, KLP, Wilson, Markovic, Millar, Jarvis, Sayyadmanesh. Although some aren’t very recent or wingers but these are the players I think of when thinking of pace
A left back. Possibly an experienced centre half too. That's the 4, but there's no bad sway if we didn't not get all of them. We have enough to stay up.
Off the top of my head the fastest player i can remember was David Beresford he was so quick he made the oposition full backs look like they were running backwards.
Josh King was rapid when we had him on loan. I always remember him once leaving players for dead when he ran from defence to attack. I think it was his first game for us (or at least at the KC) and I remember thinking he was the fastest player I’d ever seen. Admittedly, he could have just had slower players around him.
The difference being that this season that when our loan players go back they won’t massively weaken the team (potentially Barry excepted). I also hope we don’t have to sell our prize assets. Losing Greaves, Delap, Philogene and Morton in one go was always going to make life difficult. (particularly when you hire a madman to coach the team).
Read in HDM that we were paying part of Giles salary during his loan. Wonder if that means although he took a pay cut from 'Boro we're making up the rest?
Jason Harris was like lightening...........mind you, he's got a mention on the other thread about worst signings
When it comes to pace in past players, there isn’t many faster than Leigh Jenkinson, if any! If I remember correctly, he reached the final of all football club’s fastest players back in the early 90’s, either on the BBC or ITV.
The headline was 'Giles agreed to a pay cut to return to Middlesbrough on loan from Hull City', if he was still getting his full wages, then clearly he wouldn't have agreed a pay cut. Unless the story is wrong, he's playing for a reduced wage, regardless of who's paying what.
