There's only been a handful of signings across the championship that I would've liked here; Cannon (Sheff Utd) BBD (Sheff Utd) Salech (Cardiff) Jurasek (Norwich) Isaac Price (West Brom), not sure where he'd fit here but decent player. Whittaker (Boro), not his biggest fan but in the right system he can be very good. Sonne (Burnley), solid right back depth. Nobody is making huge moves. I'm confident we'll add at least one more.
You're quite rightly entitled to your opinion, so in your opinion who would you like us to sign to show ambition?
Yeah a couple players I would have liked, but tbh I think the fees paid would have put me off some of em
Ah the good old 'ambition' ****e. Honestly thought that kind of bullshit comment had been left behind but I guess a below par result in amongst some good results brings out the bellends. We've went toe to toe with the 3 teams above us in the 5 games against them so far and we're 5 points off top after 29 games. I'm not sure what more a non parachute payment club can do.
I think the real ambition for a club in our position is not selling your PL quality players in January. Bringing Le Fee and potentially a forward and a full back will be a very good window.
Le Fee is ambitious if ever I saw it, even had a fee agreed for when we go up, and it’s not the end of the window yet.
Hard to argue we don't have ambition after this window so far, even the linked players have been a class above. I saw someone mention otr that we haven't spent anything, without taking into account the quality upgrade by loaning lads like Samed (a waste atm), Mepham (a stroke of genius) and now Le Fee (the signing of the season in this league).
Burnley have signed Ashley Barnes and Shelvey ffs ... ... I'd be absolutely appalled if we showed that kind of 'ambition'. Neither of those two will ever play in the PL again and would be useless in the Championship.
Definitely. Shelvey was sitting in the stands tonight, Barnes has played about 10 mins since he signed - if that! Yep you're right, we can do without that kind of ambition!
Ambition isn’t short term panicking in a transfer window trying to grab the best players that come along. Ambition is a multi year plan piecing together a squad with sustainable finance and bringing in players that fit the system. Ambition is developing and holding on to the best crop of young uns the club has seen for a long, long time. I didn’t hit reply so you know which post I’m replying to
I always remember back to the chancers deadline day signings, when in one window Donald rang a host of clubs asking them what they had available. We signed an injured left back from Leeds...
The weekend could have have been better but basically it's as you were and we are a point closer to Sheff Utd. Had worse weekends
