Good Morning. It's Monday 27th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Buendia tipped for Leverkusen - Whites target Barry

Reigning Bundesliga Champions Bayer Leverkusen look set to snatch Emi Buendia from under Leeds' noses, just like Norwich did to them six and a half years ago when he was playing on-loan for Cultural Leonesa, a former feeder club for the Whites. They want to bring him to the Bay Arena with an option to buy in the Summer. Reports from the Midlands state they would only authorise a move if it had a compulsory purchase clause.

The 28yo hasn't seen much football since returning from an ACL injury last August, after a year on the sidelines. The big money capture of Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund is likely to spell the end of Buendia's tenure at Villa Park, but given the sudden interest from Xabi Alonso, Leeds have turned their attention to another Villa player.

Louis Barry scored 15 goals and two assists in just 1800 minutes of game time for Stockport County during the first half of their League One campaign. He can play anywhere across the forward line including playmaker, though his preferred position is as an inverted winger / third striker. A host of Championship clubs are after the 21yo's signature, many of whom will be able to guarantee first team game time, something Daniel Farke refuses to do.

    Ferguson on Leeds radar

Leeds have joined the race to sign Republic of Ireland striker Evan Ferguson from Brighton, on loan until the end of the season.

Described by Alan Shearer as "the real deal. Left foot, right foot, headers, pace, aggression, intuition; there is no obvious weakness to his game" the 20yo has a big future ahead of him. The Seagulls are keen to develop him, and given Leeds success with Ben White, a move to Elland Road shouldn't be ruled out!

Competition for places and various ankle injuries have restricted him to just 219 minutes of game time this season, but if he can stay fit, could be a brilliant addition to the Leeds register. West Ham and Everton have both been conniving to lure the 20yo away from the South Coast, but with Brighton slapping a £45m price tag down, a loan move looks far more likely.

    Would you take a point

With Sunderland drawing at Plymouth, and the Blades getting mauled at home against Hull, Leeds could go four points clear (five if you count goal difference) if they can beat Burnley tonight at Turf Moor.

Scott Parker's side are unbeaten in fifteen games and are the only Championship side not to lose at home all season. Given the magnitude of the game, and the chasing pack dropping points, if you were offered a draw before kick-off, would you take it?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Getting to the business end of the season but, also the business end of the transfer window. As Eire always says (<whistle>), no point in moaning until the window closes.

Anything other than a defeat and I would sleep easy tonight but can’t help feeling a win becomes a statement and puts the Blades and Sunderland pretty much in the position where they have to beat us in the upcoming head to heads. That won’t suit a playing not to lose approach and could really play into our hands.

I’m going to knowingly contradict myself here. With Barry, you can’t guarantee game time, he is unproven at this level and would have to earn his place. However, I mentioned Ferguson a few weeks ago and said “if you don’t ask you don’t get”. If we had to guarantee him game time (with the proviso that he is fully fit which Brighton would also want), absolutely I would go all out for him and do whatever is needed. Forget Kiefer Moore, this lad should be an absolute beast at this level and could even outscore Ilan Sprakes mistakes.

Can it happen? He is a professional footballer and a promotion challenge should whet his appetite far more than warming Brightons bench or fighting for nothing other than survival at the lower end of the EPL. Unless they think he is a one season wonder Brighton are too savvy to sell him outright to a rival and, although they likely won’t sell him to us either, getting him fully back to speed or, potentially in the shop window (as they did with Ben White) may well suit them.

Having said that, like Eire, I am enjoying the Championship far more than routine stuffings in the Premier League so, let’s go for Kiefer Moore and offer him a 9 year contract. That’s how Chelsea get round PSR don’t you know ;)

Morning Marcos, not often I disagree with you but I’d only want Ferguson if there was a loan to buy agreement in place.

Hate getting another club’s player up to speed only to send him back having increased their asset.

Would rather persevere with Piroe and Joseph - or get someone in better than them who’ll be a Leeds United player from the off or will be in the summer.

Fully expected a few replies like this mate and, although I agree in principle, we would all moan if one of our rivals did it and pipped us at the post (again) :emoticon-0148-yes:

No to kinder Bueno! Anyone who thinks he's too good and acts the big I am isn't for me.... Ferguson if shearer thinks he's decent enough then I'd respect someone's opinion who's put the ball in the onion bag enough times :emoticon-0148-yes:....Barry isn't he a prospect a bit like our Mateo ? :emoticon-0138-think....as for tonight I'd take a point in fairness but can't see why we should be unduly forgiven for expecting the full compliment....:emoticon-0165-muscl

    Morning all

I am on the fence with Ferguson, caught between the views of Marcos and Forza

What I would say, I would prefer us to sign him if it means preventing a rival from getting him

How to win friends and influence people.....:emoticon-0140-rofl:

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has suggested he'd rather give a place on the bench to his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach instead of Marcus Rashford because of a perceived lack of effort.

All about the here and now. If he can score the goals to get us promoted and if we can get him then that should be the main priority.

Sunderland are unbeaten at home (in the league) this season, thanks to Meslier.

I'm genuinely pleased for Hull. We've helped them with Gelhardt, Drameh and Coyle. I can even see them staying up.

we've played Hull twice as have the Blunts. Burnley, Sunderland and WBA have to play them again. Hopefully Barry will make them unbeatable :D
