More villian than hero tbh. Because we were more front foot in the first half there were fewer opportunities for him to be caught out defensively. But a lot of his decision making and basic passing was poor. And as you say, the 2nd half beggars belief!
Ange Doesn’t help himself though. says Sarr shouldn’t have played. Okay fine, why isn’t reguillon starting left back and gray in midfield then? Says richarlison should have come off at half time. Fair enough but why put Son up front when it’s clear he can’t play there in this system and keep lankshear on the bench? This is my biggest gripe with him at the moment, his job is on the line but he’s not trying anything different to try and save it. I want him screaming at players from the sideline and continually tapping his watch to the 4th official. Come on man, look like you want to keep your job!
There's one thing about the cup narrative that doesn't ring true for me People could claim that the ubermensch might have won the Season Killer Cup in 2021...they're wrong, of course, as we lost 3-0 to the Mansourites a few weeks before the final in a particularly miserable showing, but they still claim it Can anyone claim that Ange might win a cup?
I did above…which prompted some general laughter. On Mourinho, we’ll never know. There’s a very short list of managers who you’d rather have than Jose to manage a one off cup final though. So much of those occasions are won with mentality. His football with us by the end was dire but he does have that edge.
That's also befuddling at the moment. Let's say he wins the Carabao...does that seriously mean we keep him? Have we not seen more than enough evidence that he is woefully out of his depth, and that the club lacks both the money and ambition to help him swim to the surface? What exactly is the plan if he does win the cup?
Honestly, this is the problem with the team being a nice little group of centrists outside of a few players Not only do we accept bad calls without protest, but we're far too respectful to our opponents and that can (and usually is) seen as weakness Look at the Tamworth game for an example of this: we only looked competent when Bergvall and Spence came on as they had the right level of disrespect for the opposition that they played with the sort of "**** you" swagger that said we shouldn't be losing to that rabble of ****e on their plastic pitch
I don’t think it’s just about the cup if we do win one. I think if we improve when we get players back then he will have his case partly justified that it’s down to injuries. Then with another summer of transfers, he will get another go at next season.
The obvious point there is that Man Utd and Chelsea (among others, but they're the most obvious examples) have shown they're more than happy to dump a manager after winning a cup, as league form is the true barometer of how things were going and they were clearly lacking
Which would be terrible as he was kept on far longer than he should've been thanks to the two trophies he won (and constantly referred to in every press conference).
Exactly. Utd in hindsight know they should have thanked him for the FA Cup but sacked him. Winning a trophy (especially for Spurs) would be big but if the league form carries on like it has then he still would have to go. FWIW I don’t think Spurs are getting to any finals this season let alone winning anything so it will be a moot point anyway
Just saw a full clip of the end of the game from a camera above the tunnel. Kulusevski went straight down it as soon as the whistle went, couldn't get away quick enough. Totally understandable and wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he puts in a transfer request in the summer.
One thing that's been mentioned: at various points our flanks effectively looked like a queue as we had the FB, a CM and the winger all lined up ...and that makes no tactical sense at all, as the CM needs to be at an angle between the two so there's a second passing option for the fullback, not drifting that far wide they're creating an easily exploited gap in midfield
He probably wouldn't have to put in a request, there's bound to be interest in him. I reckon we possibly lose Kulu and definitely lose Romero in the summer. Some will say the latter won't be a huge miss but the reality is - injuries aside - we likely won't sign a better/ higher calibre CB to replace him. Lange will probably just sign a 18 year old playing in Ligue 2.
