I've never understood why people bother watching things like Coronation Street or Eastenders. The story-lines are pathetic, predictable and tragically un-entertaining. Why do people watch them? Are their own lives so dull that they have to watch fictional characters living day-to-day life on television? Are they perhaps seeking to learn about life and how to interact with people? Life is so very short and precious, why watch pointless ****e on the television? How many of you watch soaps?

i must be stupid. Hey ho...! I used to watch both Eastenders and Corrie regularly, though not for the reasons above ...i don't watch them now, but i used to love them...
Because they don't consider it pointless ****e and have lower expectations of TV drama than you or I do. You can relate the brevity of life with reference to almost anything to make it look irrelevant.
jOKer - I don't know if soaps are for stupid people - but I do think that it is stupid and pointless to watch them. In fact I have voiced all that you say on the subject on many occasions........ not one soap or reality program or so called talent show is permitted to 'grace' my television. That really only leaves the News - which tends to be depressing - that's why I like to read GC- always uplifting. <sometimesilie>
I can`t concentrate on a single episode of any Soap opera, the Northern ones make me angry just with the mispronunciation ............... Q I isn't a soap/reality/talent show. It is what the title says - quite interesting and can be educational in a mildly amusing way.

Yes but we all like to watch 22 grown men run around kicking a ball. And feigning injury like big girls blouses. Hardly thought provoking. And no I don't like soaps.

It's an interesting question - another interesting question would be "are people who judge the intellect levels of people based on the TV programmes they watch actually stupid themselves? - or are they just self important, pretentious spannerheads?"
