As Gina G would say, Ooh aah, just a little bit Ooh aah, a little bit more Ooh aah, just a little bit You know what I'm lookin' for Ooh aah, just a little bit Ooh aah, a little bit more Ooh aah, just a little bit
Phew those glaring misses nearly cost us (how did EG miss) but if we’d conceded then Riza would have had to explain away going 5 at the back late on. It’s academic now as we won and that is a massive 3 points! Unbeaten in January and only 3 points behind those down west!
Not sure what to think of our next game. A week to get injuries back, bring in a player or two, get Salech further up to speed, do a bit more work on the training pitch. Our respective positions suggest the result should go to Leeds. BUT........ A few buts actually. We're 8 unbeaten. Omer has shown that they can tactically tweak things half time. We've players on the bench who can impact games. However, Omer can go defensive. So, respective positions suggest Leeds should win. I'm not sure I'm ready to accept that. With a cup weekend after that, then 3 winnable games. Brizzle will be a tough one, with Portsmouth on a run similar to ours. Then a banana skin in the form of Plymouth. 6 or 7 points from those 4 would be acceptable. Getting to the narly part of the season now.
Gnarly even Ok we won but what was that first half performance all about? Terrible. No pace down the left and no driving forward from midfield. Once Willock was at last subbed City were a different team with El Ghazi at last showing he has quality and Ashford roasting his full back. Salech was winning balls in the air whereas in the first half Alnwicks punts were easily defended. Should have scored 4 but for their keeper (who had a lot to make up for after our opener). But thankfully Derby weren’t much cop (Adams was irritating) and Riza’s gamble on a back 5 to see us out paid off. I’m not that bothered about Leeds away - it’s a free hit - it’s our games v the likes of Stoke Pompey Luton etc which will count.
