I don’t think that 3 players need singling out. Everyone was equal and an outstanding team performance. Sheffield United had only conceded 5 goals at home in 13 games, prior to tonight.
Probably hardest MOM when we’ve won, harder than some of those awful games we’ve had. 1. Alzate - Controlled the centre, passing very crisp & neat. 2. Jones - Defended brilliantly, edged McC IMO. 3. Crooks - It’s a tough call, but his 1st half performance was nothing short of great. Others that were stood out above just good today would be, sod it, I was going to list them, but it’s basically all of them, I don’t think there was a player tonight who didn’t give it his all.
Crooks Alzate Jones But could have been any of the starters or subs - all were superb. All the newcomers look like great additions.
Could of been any of them but I’ll go Sean Mac - out of position against arguably the best team in the league and then went into the middle when we’re holding on and he was faultless at both. Drameh - Probably his best game for us, Diaz didn’t get a look in. Gelhardt - he just looks good, has some obvious quality but he works really hard without the ball too.
Alzate - solid and composed , very controlled An excellent performance. Pandur - clean sheet , he had to be alert dealing with anything they threw at him . Mcloughlin- had to play full back and then centre back too. Dealt with some tricky opponents. Overall a great team performance. Everyone played there part . Well done boys Come on City
Not picking 3 out tonight, to a man every player that either started or came on played for the shirt, they were ALL terrific. For me, best away performance for many a season.
I find MOTM so hard to choose sometimes. Struggle to compare an attacker's performance against a defender's. So going on all-round performance: Macca Alzate Jones But Crooks, Joseph, Gelhardt all did their jobs really well too, and Crooks' outstanding strike was crucial to the result.
