I agree with your point, however, between RLB and KS they reckon we'll be ok with O'Nien covering both positions by the look of it - at the time of me writing this - but who's to say they don't get someone just in case. But on the other side of the coin, could we get anyone in to sit on the bench and pay his wages just in case?
Honestly I think I’d rather go the other way and just try to sign a 30 odd year old who can cover both sides and is happy to sit on the bench for now. Just having a natural full back who can come in for a few games if one of them picks up a knock would be ideal. Think Huggins and Seelt are more long term options but I’m starting to lose faith in Huggins his injuries aren’t normal. He is essentially exactly what we’re looking for, great prospect can play both sides and give us the cover we need if either miss a few games.
@assistanaliz Gökmen Özcan: "Sunderland has a package offer for Semih. Loan until the end of the season, purchase option + bonus if the team gets promoted to the Premier League. A total fee of around €20 million. Ajax is also interested. Their offer is Ahmetcan Kaplan + some money." https://x.com/asistanaliz/status/1882825440114712893...
Semih Kilicsoy, 19 y/o Besiktas striker. Had a good season last year but Immobile signed in the summer so he hasn't played all that much.
I think the club would probably be comfortable with what you are saying here but I think Onien at left back would take out the balance of the team and we'd lose some threat down the left side. I think Onien would be better at right back but still think Hume is more of a dynamic player down that side. I think either a younger player in the same mould of us when we signed Hume or Mundle could be the way to go.
He's a part of the turkey "golden generation" attack with uzun, guler, yildiz. Played a few times at the Euros
Looks like he's played on both wings and as a striker over the last 2 seasons. The versatile forward we've been after?
“Kılıçsoy was described by Mehmet Ekşi as a "dynamic and talented" striker, he can also play as a winger or attacking midfielder. He can use both feet well“ that’s from Wikipedia fits the profile massively and can’t remember watching him play but already think he’d be a coup
