The worst thing about him is his absolutely unshakeable certainty combined with smugness, that he’s right.

He’s also perfected that old PR trick of answering questions with a confected anecdote that shows him in a good light.

“as the fan of another club I bumped into said to me”

“as the director of another club losing money said to me”

One of the oldest tricks in the book.

Methven asks fans to trust him on negotiating the Valley, and then repeats more than once the whopper that attendances are up this season, and we are averaging 15,200.

Bookmark this - we are f ucked with this bloke at the helm. He’s pulling all the strings now . He’s the owner and CEO and everything else, in all but name.

Isn't it about 8% he owns? Enough to make him hard to shift, therefore it's hard to shift Andy Scott. It must be possible for the other owners to replace him as CEO, but since they don't know much about what's going on it would need a lengthy process, with consultations with good people who have knowledge of the club, and of L1. Difficult and unlikely but not impossible, if the major shareholders had the will.

You’d have been better off watching the Q&A last night….it was sobering in many ways.

The only two occasions when the leadership showed any passion / anger was when Nathan Jones was asked about Alfie May - he made clear he didn’t like that, and when Rodwell was forced to defend his pal Scott. My question wasn’t read out, although I widely circulated it.

Gavin Carter was extremely poor, and deferred to Methven on everything including probably wiping his backside after.

He's a bull******* of the highest order.

I think there was a clue when they first took over the club.

I am really happy I missed it. This lot are all fur coat and no knickers.

"With me running the operation at The Valley".

He's been doing this for the past 18 months regardless of what anybody says.

He'd get ruined at a no holds barred meeting. Full of s***.

The only positive is that despite his job title, he is definitely not the bloke in charge.

This was the gist of my question last night - the complete lack of accountability for the SMT’s personal performance.

When CAFC sacked Dean Holden in Sept 2023, Andy Scott went on Charlton TV and said

“I’ve just told the squad, the culture of mediocrity at the club ends today”.

We went on to have our worst league finish in 100 years.

At any other club, Scott & the execs walk for that .

As I understand it, it was Methven's initiative that brought the consortium together, with Rodwell and Scott getting the jobs not on merit, but as an act of friendship. Similar to NJ's signings fromLuton. Whatever doubts Carter &co have about the SMT, they aren't going to throw the CEO under the bus in front of the fans. This sort of meeting is too stage-managed, which is why your question was not selected. Think of PMQ's, and the tradition of friendly questions from whichever party is in power. I'm not giving up hope of Methven being removed from his position as CEO, I'd be surprised if it hasn't been privately discussed. But the whole thing was his brainchild, so there won't be any interference this season.

Heads should have rolled in the summer.

I have totalled the attendances and NOT included Wrexham as that cannot count tbh. We average 14,378, more than 800 less than what he says. On top of this the actual bums on seats are a maximum of 10k.
The guy is a bull*******.

Actual bums on seats, our average is well below 10,000 at home now.

I am told that everyone within the club knows this too.

Very disappointing to see outright porkies being told, no surprise to see a certain low energy Carry On star elsewhere using this “evidence” to support his own version of Fake News.

Charlotte was a poor host last night, although I understand why as she’s an employee of the club.

The 15,200 average home attendance needed calling out live on air as the whopper it is.

I’ve never seen the Valley so empty as it’s been this season.
Which of course can be done politely by saying that it is clear that the attendances are purely on tickets issued.
