Could be an excellent loan signing to replace Barry. A lot were shocked when Boro signed him in the summer, predicting he’d do really well

In KLD and Speakman we trust. Chill out and relax, they’ll do the very best they can.

Absolutely mate, we should all be basking in the sunlight after years of darkness ...

... these are wonderful times so let's just enjoy them.

This is probably the best time I've known in over half a century and I mean that, despite 1973, Reid, Quinn, etc.

Anyone who isn't loving all this needs to take their blinkers off imo.

Has anyone mentioned that Le Fee could be a replacement for Dan Neil in the summer

Also the man with the bun that Derby brought on looked a handful

I'd have thought Samed would replace Neil and Le Fee would replace Jobe given the roles Neil and Jobe are currently playing.

Salis is on loan which expires in the summer, as things stand there are no deals in place to make that permanent.

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...and-transfer-pledge-dan-neil-jobe-bellingham/

REGIS LE BRIS is confident Dan Neil and Jobe Bellingham want to remain at Sunderland this month, even if they are the subject of offers from Premier League clubs….

“We have good players, and because we have good players, we can have a lot of interest about them,” said Le Bris. “The long-term is one timeline, but when it comes to the short-term, the most important thing is the connection to the team.

“I think these players, in their mind right now, have the story that we are living. They are so connected that, for me, they want to stay here.

“Now, on the opposite side, they have to find a solution about their contracts and their futures, that is normal. But, for me, to story we are living now is the best element for the next few weeks and also after the transfer window.”

“If you look at the owner, the sporting director and the recruitment structure, then I think we are really connected about the opportunity we have this season,” said Le Bris. “We all know the opportunity is there, and we want to do everything we can to try to make it happen.

“Then, on the other side, even if a massive offer was to arrive, the player has to sign and say, ‘Yes, I want to leave’. Hopefully, all of those things will mean that the decision in the end is really clear.

“It is normal to have these conversations about our players, but at the same time, what I can feel in the dressing room and here in the building every day, it shows that we are all so connected with the story we are living right now.

“That is not that common, and we all know that. In professional life, moments like these are very rare, so we have to enjoy them. Even if money is here, or promises are there – what we are living right now is really important.”

“I don’t know what is happening with his (Neil) contract at the minute,” said Le Bris. “I know that the club, with Kristjaan especially, has many conversations with his agent. That is probably in progress, although I don’t know exactly.

“He is a very important player for us. On the pitch, it is sometimes not easy to assess the way in which he helps the team to solve the problems we face. He is tactically very smart and can understand what happens on the pitch very quickly.

“He can solve things, and share with his team-mates what is important to do. If it doesn’t work, then he will change later and he has a very good connection with the staff.

“He is the captain. Sometimes, you can have the armband but not necessarily lead on the pitch. With him, he is very impressive.”

TBH at this rate, I'll take a gentlemen's agreement that he can leave in the summer if we don't go up at X price. They will fit most people's agenda.

This idea is unfortunately unlikely because I'd imagine Neil and Jobe stay if we go up, but if we don't, Le Fee and Samed won't be here.

There was a post yesterday which I thought was mostly right, if we don't go up we will more than likely lose Neil and Jobe, with Le Fee and Samed then returning to their clubs. Midfield gonna look a shadow.

Very true but hopefully the Serb has bedded in, we retain Rigg and then have stacks of cash to invest. It's the model Modus Operandi

The 28 goal season was a complete freak if you look at has career as a whole, though. Year before that he managed 7 in the Greek league, year before that 5 in our league... In the current season? He's got a grand total of 3 league goals so far, that's 1 more than Luke O'Nien...

I don't understand why people are assuming we're going to get the 22-23 version of Akpom when he's been distinctly average (at best) for the entire rest of his career... 29 too, so low resale value and there's absolutely no chance he can cut it in the Prem so if we go up he gives us a problem.

I just really don't like the idea, personally.

(I'm not counting cup games as teams may have been rotating, they might have been against minnows, etc.)

No reason why he can't do it again tho either. Some players do just hit form at the latter part of their career or in a certain system

I'm on the fence with him tbh but he might be good for a short term move

That's it pal, I won't complain. Triantis to come back too, whether he's ready or not I dunno? But Browne will be valuable experience too.

Well that uas cheered me right up. Sounds confident that our top two are absolutely with us. Superb.

I love the way Regis talks about Neil. It seems clear he selected him as captain. I agree Neils tactical game is great. He just has the whole pitch as a picture in his head when he plays. Not many can say that. It is one of the reasons he will play at the top level for me.

Have to say as well I love the way Regis talks about players. He seems to have a real love for footballers, in the same way Mowbray does, but in a more understated way perhaps. I have a feeling he is the type of coach you just want to do everything for. If I were Dan and I read that today I would feel a foot taller. In our coach and captain we have a lovely blend right now.
