What's been described by Met Eirann as one of the worst storms' the Country will have experienced is due to hit in the early hours of the morning..... entire country on Red status warning, all public transport stopped, schools etc all closed and advice not to go outdoors until later tomorrow afternoon....

We're on Status Red from 2am until 10am Friday morning for gusts of wind in excess of 130 km/h.... Status Orange until 4pm on Friday and Status Yellow for rain from 9pm tonight until 5am Friday morning.....

Take care everyone and stay safe.....

See you on the other side so to speak.....

    Hello,

Due to red weather warnings, and to ensure the safety of our colleagues and customers, Tesco stores in your area will be closed tomorrow, Friday 24 January. We’re still open as normal this evening

Holy ****, it must be bad if the greedy ****ers at Tesco are gonna shut their doors

You don’t hear the phrase “down in Cumbria” often

I’ll be impressed if this breezy day exceeds the 125mph winds I experienced in 1983 during Typhoon Ellen in Hong Kong. A mate had a tiny bathroom window blow out due to air pressure differences and when he got home the next day his flat was under six inches of water. It was on the 13th floor of his block.

183 km/h gust recorded in Co Galway overnight breaking the record that has stood since 1945.....

715k properties without power across the country..... warning about fallen trees around almost every corner.....

And like 1987 I slept through most of it<laugh>
