I think you can explain the Mitchell situation by popping into shop without any money whatsoever at the moment and taking a look around.

Essentially just because you haven't got any money doesn't mean you aren't lining things up.

It's also worth pointing out that they watch players for extensive periods of time not just in a transfer window.

Well, Roly's list of 'finds' by Forest, Brighton & Bournemouth cost on average around £10m each when they were signed.

So Mitchell's challenge is to find at least a couple of those in the near future. Not just youth players, but ones who can compete for 1st team places instantly.

If Mitchell is all he's cracked up to be then he should have enough contacts to find these type of players. And I can't believe we can't find £20m - £30m for 2 or 3 players who can come straight in to the match day squad.

If we are really THAT skint then the club needs to bloody accept the offers for Miggy, Kelly and others NOW.

Yeah, but equally they must have some ideas already. It's not like it's their first jobs in football. Mitchell and the scouting team have been in such roles for years. They will (or should) have contacts and target lists already.

 

They will have and there's plenty of potential reasons why they haven't provided our fanbase with the next gifts coming our way.

The notion he's doing nothing is an argument from ignorance. Essentially ruling out a myriad of other potential explanations.

It's also worth reminding everyone that this is 3 years into a 5 to 10 years plan, we're close to a second final in that time, we've got one of the best strikers in the world, sit 6th in the league and have won 9 of our last 10, so if they can't get the right players there's absolutely no reason to settle for players that are less desirable than the no1 targets.

And yeah, I'm not saying Mitchell isn't doing anything, but there will be BIG expectations on him by the summer.

It was a very deliberate argument from ignorance.

 

Thinking about the lack of signings and that, the one disappointments of the Saudi ownership for me so far, is the lack of signings or young talent from South America. I thought that getting a good scouting network set up in South America would have been one of the top priorities for PIF.

It’s an incorrect assessment, but it’s yours to own. We could piss a bit of money away and still be ok. Anything we sell will be a bonus.
