It's hard to pick a man of the match ... ... much harder to pick our worst player, they were all magnificent in my opinion. Who would other people say was our worst player, out of interest?
Hume or Rigg for me. The former seems to be coasting a bit and got roasted off their wide man who come on as a sub.
yes both Hume and Rigg were under par today. Rigg has struggled to get into games recently. He’s not doing much wrong when he gets on the ball. But he’s just not getting on the ball.
Thought Jobe was the best player on the pitch, he normally is these days. Carried the ball well, defended well and never lost any of his aggression despite the early yellow. Top class.
Tonight a big 3 points which keeps us in the race. We should of had a second and our opinion on the game might differ slightly. Too many times because we do not kill games off we concede late (Stoke & Blackburn) and drop vital points. All about opinions, we have our favourites etc.. When Derby threatened it was crosses into box, headers and Patto making great saves. IMO centre backs must compete in the air and try to win the ball. Like every other night 09 just wants to wrestle players and doesnt even try to win a header at corners etc and is out jumped by strikers like tonight from dangerous crosses..Patto doesnt like coming for crosses forcing Memphan to win everything. I felt more confident when Ballard came on and the threats stopped. 09 best position could be sitting in front of backline carrying ball into midfield as he did this well tonight. Dan or 09 in holding position. Dan for me. Cirkin is potentially the best left back in the league, great going forward, fantastic in the air and very brave. He just needs to build a partnership with whoever plays in front of him to know he has cover at times. He has been back long enough now to be match fit. If he is being substituted I can only assume RLB thinks he cannot trust him late on in games or like tonight because he thinks 09 is a better LB as they both started the match. Strange decision for me. LeFee could be our game changer and we need to get him into his best position. He has played enough minutes to be match sharp now. His free kicks and creative play is on a different level. We have great players all over the park and at times some will have to sit on the bench but play players who are best suited to the shape we want to play and not pick players forcing them to play out of position, What is Rigg best position ? Bellingham is a rolls royce but at times he will need a rest. If we have 2 great players in same position, then rest one, especially if 3 games in a week, but keep the shape. Roberts, Mayenda, Isidor are all working hard and offer protection from the front. Mundle & Watson will have to match their work-rate when they return. The final piece of the jigsaw is a striker who will be a fox in the box. Someone who will score more than he misses. If we get that then we can get top two. I keep saying it RLB you have inherited a fantastic squad. You have got them working their socks off and all of them seem to love the club. You have to pick the right team for each fixture and make the subs when required as opposed to being influenced by clock routines. Make subs when the game demands it no matter what the clock says. Lets start controlling games from the first minute, winning comfortably and resting players late in games rather than scrambling over the line. We will be in the premiership next year. Keep the faith..
I agree mate, I just couldn't see any other reason to disallow the goal. I did watch at full time when Isador asked the ref and the ref seemed to indicate that it was offside
He's been brilliant this season, think he'll be away in the summer but would love another year out of him as I think he will get even better than his brother
Couldn't agree more Smug. No easy games in this league, Plymouth will be no different. We're picking up points despite the adversity these last 2 games. Derby we're never going to lie down for us and you have to admire their effort despite the injuries they've suffered this week. As for the officials...we've had some poor ones this season but these three take the biscuit for me....appalling. 3 points and move on...We escaped any obvious knocks which is a bonus.
What could be considered corrupt would be for them to change the reason to handball after the fact to try to cover themselves, mind!
the ref put his hand to the earpiece in his right ear just before he disallowed the goal. He was clearly told to disallow it.
Good win. Good togetherness at the end. Ref's a ****er. 3pts secured and we are still in the automatic promotion race which is all that really matters.
Fooking hell, good first half. Thought we'd go on to 3 up 2nd half. Isidor should of squared it but I don't blame him trying to get the ball over the line after his good run and having them two pens saved. Fair do's to their substitutions and getting back into the game. They came back and gave us a game for a while and thankfully patto kept them out. Woeful decision on Isidors disallowed goal. Deserved win. Onwards and upwards.
I still think 4-4-2 has promise, but not with that personnel. The shape change could have worked too, but he put people in the wrong positions and we struggled to work out who was doing what.
