During the regular daily foreign ministry briefing, spokesperson Guo Jiakun said China is concerned at Trump’s announcement the US is again withdrawing from the Paris climate deal. Reuters quotes the official saying China is actively responding to climate change and will jointly promote global green and low-carbon transition Remind me again, who are the bad guys?
Everybody. Just waiting for the day Russia, China and the US align and decide to split the World three ways.
Just seen it. I mean, what the **** is he doing? Even if he didn't intend it to be a Nazi salute it looks very damning - he made himself look like the 21st Century Hitler minus the moustache and swastika. At best he's a ****ing moron, at worst he's a fascist lunatic.
The US constitution contains no explicit separation of powers as, when written, it was said to be implied that the Legislative (Congress), Executive (President) and Judiciary (Courts) have separate and exclusive powers Presidential pardons demonstrate this to be false and Trump’s abuse of these is awful But the whole concept seems mad and over extension of Executive power has happened before How would we feel if our PM or King could do this?
No, that's not a good thing in the slightest. What right does that cretin have to stop people changing their gender if they so choose? It's discriminatory and disgraceful quite frankly.
Welcome to the new face of Conservatism that is all about meddling in people’s personal lives and telling them what they can and can’t do, whilst simultaneously complaining about big government.
Just fine. The monarch (technically, these days it's really government ministers) can pardon people in the UK. It just doesn't happen as much and isn't (yet?) used politically. I suppose it's slightly different in that I don't think the monarch do pre-emptive pardons like those Biden was churning out on his way out of office. I do find that concerning.
For all of our flaws we are not yet in the retribution cycle of the US, although I could see Reform introduce it if they get in. Given Trumps speeches yesterday and during his campaign I can fully understand why Biden did it tbh, he was going to come for them.
Not convinced. He didn't go after Hillary Clinton after getting crowds to chant "Lock her up!" Ultimately it depends what any of these people may have done. If any serious crimes are discovered and they can't prosecuted that'll be pretty awful.
He didn’t have the Supreme Court completely on his side last time around. His childlike use of executive powers will go unchallenged now. He has just pardoned nearly 1,000 of those convicted over the Jan 6th insurrection, so he’s got the leaders of his stormtroopers back.
I mean the guy just released violent traitors that stormed the capitol (and killed Police) in an attempted coup because they were on his side and they were on their way to kill Mike Pence and Nancy Pelosi (likely plus any other Congressman/woman they could get their hands on), its clear where the bar is.
I am wary of China and not convinced they can be trusted. However, America is not necessarily a better option. Under Trump, they are on a par. I think it is a waste of time and effort confronting China. We woukd do better to influence them through diplomacy. Ultimately, the Chinese will prove more dominant than the US and I feel that it is rather pointless nailing your flag to Trump' s mask. I hate the idea of a special relationship with the US. We should be breaking off diplomatic relations with US for them rescinding the climate agreements alone. Just goes to show we should have aligned ourself more closely to Europe as opposed to Brexit. We need to disassociate ourselves from Trump.
Not quite as stupid as voluntarily removing ourselves from the world’s largest trading bloc, but still pretty dangerous I agree.
Having watched a video of this, I'd say it's as simple as he's autistic and very obviously gets overstimulated at these political rallies. I don't pay much attention to Musk but I've seen multiple videos of him doing all sorts of weird dances and gestures on stage. I suspect all these things may be some form of stimming, which is common in autistic people when they get overstimulated - the classic example is autistic kids flapping their hands when excited. About the time he makes the gesture he says something like "My heart goes out to you" and my guess is that gesture (moving his hand from his chest/heart area outwards towards the crowd) was intended to represent that. It's certainly a good example of how he isn't well-suited to the political environment. Most politicians would probably seek to limit his public appearances but Trump has always seemed to relish these sort of minor controversies so I'm not sure that's going to happen.
Breaking off relations completely is never the right thing. Becoming far less intertwined though definitely
