Great weekend that. Newcastle’s mini title bid took a dent. Arsenal still massively in there. 6 points can go in 2 games
upcoming games, we go into spell where we play every 3 days for 4 weeks. In theory, Lille/psv/Plymouth should be reserved and some kids. Lfc Tue 21 - Lille H Sat 25th - ipswich H Wed 29th - psv away Sat 1st - Bournemouth away Thur 6th - spurs H (LC) Sun 9th - Plymouth H Wed 12th - Everton A Sunday 16th - wolves H In contrast, Arsenal play 2 less with an extra week and half between their LC game and Prem game after going out to United. Arsenal wed 22nd - dinamo H Sat 25th - wolves A Wed 29th - girona A Sun 2nd - city H Wed 5th - Newcastle A (LC) sat 15th - Leicester A
Aren't we away to Plymouth? Don't matter, as we should just put out a reserve team anyway. Get everyone fit and rested for that Everton game. Those 4 Prem games are all CL finals, IMO. Win them all and we win the league, as Arsenal will drop more points in those games. Talking of the CL, Arsenal still have to put out their best teams in at least one of their ties to ensure top 8 - we don't. With a bit of luck they'll not make Top 8 and will have to play two more competitive qualifiers in February.
Arteta: it was the wrong type of air for the ball to travel through and the ref had the wrong pea in his whistle and havertz’s hand is officially part of his chest because he’s a bit spazzy like. Overall we won the game and everyone else are losers’
Should not matter.we have no excuse not to go at those 3 league games and can use the squad at will if the cl as they are dead games.
Why are the CL games dead rubbers? Doesn’t where you finish in the top 8 decide who you play out of those who didn’t? I’ll admit don’t know the full rules for qualification outside of the top 8.
Nope. Top 8 get seeded. next 16 go into 2 legged play off then top 8 will play winners of those play off games so doesn’t matter if you finish 1st or 8th, same side of draw and could pull any of those teams that come through next round.
So if you finish top you’re seeded first, don’t you then play the lowest ranked winner from the 8 play off ties?
No. top 8 go into pot 1 winners of the 8 play offs( 9-24 in league) go into pot 2 anyne from pot 1 can play pot 2 so 1st could play 24th 1st could also play 9th its total luck of the draw. Also to add, top 8 play 2nd leg at home as well
League position does mean something if we finish 1 or 2 we play a team that finishes 15,16,17 or 18th I think. If we win 1 of the last 2 we are guaranteed 2nd at worst
Turns out I was wrong. I’m not sure if they changed that at some point between it being announced and put into place in theory to stop teams who has already qualified just putting out reserve teams. But you’re right. below is breakdown. weird one as in theory 8th could end up playing team in 24th or 9th. The teams who finish first and second will play the winners of a tie between those who finished 15th, 16th, 17th or 18th. Those who finished third and fourth will meet the winners of a game between 13th, 14th, 19th and 20th. Fifth and sixth take on winners of a knockout match between 11th, 12th, 21st and 22nd. Seventh and eighth will face the winners of a 9th, 10th, 23rd and 24th matchup.
Wow, I have been totally misinformed. Can you also face a team from your home league in this format? You couldn't in the old last 16.
