I would like to think the fans have a bit more sense to blame the poor ****er who was brought in at the ****test possible time with no time to organise with no transfer plan. The blame goes to the board, Russell Martin and the players through and through.
Definitely not his fault and actually there are a lot of positives so far. Seem fitter, seem to be taking less suicidal risks. Some dodgy subs, but I think that’s down to him not knowing the players and how pathetic they are. His actual ideas seem ok. 100% all on Martin and the board/recruitment team tbh.
Agree. The mans had 4 weeks and made us a more solid, premiership capable team in that time. Mcoist praised him during the game and Scholes said he had the better of Amorim for 75 minutes last night and without Diallo we would have won. The problem is he doesn’t have the squad as we saw when the subs came on, and we don’t have a Diallo. Will see if he can work with the new Sporting Director coming in, but his appointment (the sporting director), does make me think that we will go back in for Rohl in the summer??
It’s so easy to blame the managers for results, we had RM who wanted to play pretty procession based football but the players weren’t good enough at PL level, so we bring in IJ to play more pragmatic and marking football, now our players aren’t good enough to do this either. Who next Pulis? I would say we are a bit better with IJ similar style but not fit enough so let’s stick with him until the end of the season then reassess at that point
Ridiculous to suggest changing the manager again after FIVE games, there are signs of improvement in these last 2 games and hopefully we can maybe have a good cup run and a few morale boosting performances in the league.
No I think Lincoln was suggesting the fans will turn if we lose the next 3 league games Even if they do I can’t see a scenario where we get a new manager in this season (maybe some kind of internal caretaker if Juric loses the next 10 or something)
No, I was agreeing with him about blaming the manager and that we should give him the rest of the season and then see where we are.
Barring the greatest of great escapes we pretty well know where we're going to be next season. I think the current seeds of improvement will continue to grow and we'll leave the record with Derby. The manager fit will also be known by the end of the season when he and the club can reflect and decide whether he stays or goes.
I think the vast majority of fans resigned themselves to relegation long before Russell Martin was sacked, and our expectations for the remaining games are simply to play better and win a few games. Objectively, leading at Old Trafford until the 82nd minute was an example of an improvement in the way we play, even if lack of squad depth and inadequate fitness levels, as well as a goalscoring striker, ultimately cost us all 3 points. As my avatar suggests, I put our deterioration since they took over down to the management of the club by Sport Republic, but now, at last, Dragan Solak is making changes. We won’t know how effective these changes are until next season, although there is still enough of the January window left to trim the squad and bring in at least a CB and a striker. Whoever comes in won’t save us from the drop, but will hopefully put us in pole position for promotion next year.
I think Martin is absolutely to blame, with a hearty side of Sports Republic. I have no idea what his relationship was like with SR but the amount of players they brought in under him (Archer, Ugochukwu, Cornet, Edwards, Wood, Brereton-Diaz, Archer, Charles, Manning, Holgate, Rothwell) and he couldn't get a tune out of any of them. Not to mention players like Sulemana and Onuachu who he just froze out of the squad entirely. Either he was a crap manager who didn't know how to adapt to players best skills or he was bought a bunch of players he never had any intention of using. Regardless of this the man just point blank refused to adapt. That is one of the worst traits you can have as a football manager. To just blindly follow your philosophy regardless of the evidence in front of your eyes. I think many people, including myself, would have given him far more time if he actually said he saw the issues and would work on new ways for the team to play. But nope, he just did the same things and started taking pops at the fans for not falling in line and blindly praising utter ****. I'm a supporter of the club, that does not mean I just blindly cheer and whoop for anything the club does regardless of how poor it is. I'm paying £500 to watch a team makes the exact same mistakes week after week you bet your ass by month 4 or 5 I'm gonna start calling for you to leave even if you did get us there. No one was calling for his head until it became very clear that we would actually be playing that way all the way to 4 points in the league because we were just getting worse and worse. SR have to take blame, when you look at their transfer history with us it just makes you want to walk into the ocean. So much money on so little quality and we arguably have one of the worst squads since when we went down to League 1. They are the worst kind of owners, ones who have money but no idea where and what to spend it on. The fact that even after all the money spent, we were still relying on two mediocre, aging centre backs in Stephens and Bednerak tells you all you need to know.
One thing is slowly beginning to show is that Juric is being clear about what the players must bring to the party, ‘l’m not your friend but will reward you with a place if the following happens …… ‘ I’m with you and others, forget the PL situation but let’s see a team which brings effort, passion and maybe a win or two. It’s clear, though I’m not at all clear as to why, that the players fitness and durability levels aside from skill levels are so poor. My doubts about this side of things was growing under RM’s last few weeks. That is so disappointing.
I think the new manager has improved our players but unfortunately you can not make chicken soup out of chicken **** in 5 games. He needs more time to fix the recipe.
It would take a big nest egg to help him pullet out of the bag. Needs a free range to hatch out a few new ideas No doubt it will be cocked up...
