Would appear to be another complete farce at Ludlow today with racing called off after the scheduled off time of the first race. It would appear course officials declared conditions fit for racing but jockeys not so keen. Not sure how long NH racing can sustain this utter shambles.

I suspect they will still get them Oddy though obviously no percentage of any winnings. I know that safety is of paramount importance but surely racing has to look at this and give clear guidance on who decides on ground conditions. Ludlow is a lovely little course which really looks after punters in my experience. Great hospitality which I assume they’ll have to refund today.

It shouldn’t be that difficult should it? I actually think it would be better to have a 9.00 AM cut-off. If you aren’t 100% able to race at 09:00 you cancel. All this waiting to see if the track thaws by mid-day is far too speculative

Just seen the clip of an interview with the BHA Stip Steward on Racing TV explaining the decision to abandon at Ludlow. Course officials past it as fit with 30 min delay. BHA Steward turns up 2 hours before 1st race and agrees. Trainers/jockeys disagree so racing abandoned. Whoever was correct in their assessment of conditions the result is shambolic.
