The legal inquiry in 2016 found this to be a myth created by SY police to avoid responsibility.

Agreed, just pointing out that we're going with a pretty loose definition of 'conspiracy theory' if we're expanding it to 'all things I don't like'. I don't like Leeds but I don't think they're a 'conspiracy theory'.

The conspiracy theory is that it is necessary for other countries to finance this border war, because of the danger from Russia to the rest of the world.

The original post from me was about radicalisation to ISIS and the extreme right and the age and gender groups most likely to succumb... It shifted over the discussion to believing in that birds don't exist and are actually drones piloted by the Chinese.

Again, I don't think that's really what a conspiracy theory is. It's certainly a worldview that countries see a need to defend borders and prevent what they view as tyrannical powers expanding their territory, but putting that in the same realm as 'the moon landing was fake' is a false equivalence.

To answer your earlier question about why women are more resistant to radicalisation, I think it’s because of the way men and women respond to socialisation.

Generally, women are more conformist to established societal norms than men. They tend to value social harmony and avoiding confrontation more than men do. Women also tend to be the torch-bearers for a society’s values at any given time. Up until the 1960s, homophobic attitudes were higher amongst women than men in the USA, because that was the norm. Men are less likely to care about social exclusion by challenging ‘the current thing’.

It’s a generalisation, of course. There are women who are firebrands and men who prefer to avoid confrontation to maintain social harmony but opinion polls and studies on socialisation do suggest women are more conformist and men more confrontational.

I can believe it. Maybe men are more isolated at those two age groups (not all), estranged from society and so more likely to be radicalised.

At the time fans travelling to an all ticket game without tickets was a known and done thing, some to soak up the atmosphere and some hopeful of blagging a way in to see the game. I have in mind that a study / report / investigation showed the number of people who travelled from Liverpool to Sheffield that day by bus and coach far exceeded the number of ticket holders. That could be the made up myth but i would think it would be easy enough to find out figures although supporters making the journey by car would be neigh on impossible to know.
