Tbf, much as we complain about SR's mistakes and clumsiness, thank god we're not associated with someone like him.
I mean, presumably another loan would mean another loan fee. I wonder if this decision has partly been made for financial reasons. Those initial Alfie House tweets almost made it sound like we're recalling to push Wednesday into giving us more money to keep him. I could see a situation where the club would be happy to have Charles in our squad for the rest of the season but also happy to bring in some money by loaning him out again.
If he’s been recalled to give us a 3rd option for defensive midfield then I hope he gets some game time. My only concern with him, last season and playing in the RM style, was that he was often too slow in moving the ball around and would either get dispossessed or hit a wayward pass. Hopefully the way Juric plays will be more beneficial for him.
From the little we’ve seen so far I’d say it looks like Juric likes his DM to be a ball carrier. Ugo has regularly looked to drive forward with the ball. Martin preferred his DM to be more static and distribute the ball to the centre back/full back to keep possession. No idea if Charles is a ball carrier but I’m optimistic that he won’t look as bad on the ball as he did under Martin
Very much one of the people I have in mind when I say we could do a hell of a lot worse. Terrible owner and terrible person.
I think clumsy is actually a good word for SR's stewardship so far. There's nothing nefarious about it that I see, just a bit clumsy and indecisive (due to a lack of real knowledge so far).
I think clumsy is very kind at this point tbh. I agree it's not nefarious, but I'd have called it clumsy after they first took over and did what they did that season. We're 3 years in with them now and worse than ever.
Very short memory as a Saints fan if you think we are worse than ever. Not so long ago we were in league 1 and almost not a football club anymore. Yes this season we are awful, and SR have made a lot of terrible decisions, but we are financially secure and in a position that if (when) we do go down, we will likely have the biggest budget in the league.
Poor choice of wording from me. I was talking purely from a footballing perspective with our 'attempts' at survival.
Definitely more confident now Solak is at the helm. It will be very interesting to see who he appoints, if anyone or what decisions are made. Yes, much happier.
One poster on the Sheff Wed forum made me laugh. He put that Saints had less points than a bald Hedgehog.
Yeah I saw that too There was also one about the chairman saying he was going to hurt us and the poster had written “what’s he gonna do a drive-by shooting at St Mary’s with tins of tuna” (or words to that effect)
