Maybe we can ask the PL if we can have 3 points if we drop out of the cup voluntarily?

United have shown improved performances recently against Liverpool and Arsenal where they've needed. The typical United thing to do now would be to then struggle to get motivated when playing a poor side at home.

The most depressing thing is that even if that did happen they'll still win comfortably by 2/3 goals.

The Saints flight to Manchester tonight nearly didn't happen, the plane (G-ISLL) scraped in during a brief clearance in the fog. The next inbound fllight from Guernsey, ended up in East Midlands Airport!

Saints 3-1 it can be done. But will it? May be or is it probably not, we must be the deepest down under of under dogs.

It could well be 3-1. But who to?

How is it that an average to good performance against championship opposition last weekend has got me interested and mildly excited for tonight?

I wish I had the same optimism. I think untied might actually be hitting some form now after years of false starts, I feel like Amorim might actually be doing things the right way for them.

I feel like we might start strong but we’ll concede a dumb goal, lose our heads and then be looking at another 5-0 if not worse. I’d love to be wrong but every single piece of evidence from this season points to that being the outcome.

BBCs match build up, the round up of our season makes for interesting reading <laugh>
The last one is particularly impressive when you consider Stephens has been MIA through suspension and injury for more than half the season.

    • Southampton are statistically the worst-ever side after 20 games of a Premier League season: their tally of six points is the same as Sunderland's 19 years ago but Saints have a worse goal difference of -32.
    • The lowest points a team has had at the halfway stage of a Premier League campaign and avoided relegation is 10 by West Bromwich Albion in 2004-05.
    • Saints have scored only 12 league goals this season - the lowest tally of any side in the top five tiers of English football.
    • Southampton are winless in their last 17 Premier League away games, their longest stretch of top-flight matches on the road without a victory since a sequence of 19 fixtures ended in February 1986.
    • Southampton average a league-high 53 passes per shot this season.
    • Defenders Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens pass to each other on average 40 times per 90 minutes in the Premier League this season, the highest average of any duo to play at least 500 minutes together this term.

Got a really bad feeling about tonight tbh. Can see us competing well right up until the point we concede the first goal.
