Very true, of course none of us can be sure on next season, but it seems that even if we switch manager again in the summer the club have already changed philosophy to something more high pressure, attack minded and with us rumoured to want Rohl and getting Juric, I think both of their styles suit Manning a lot better.
I think so. Also his style isn't so different to many. The problem with RM 'style' was that it was unique, so buying for it screws us over. That said, nobody seems to suit it.
I keep reading that. Wow ****ing wow! Jeez, we really have plummeted backwards at a rate of knots. Yep, I know their limitations but wow! And that’s with promotion!
It would be interesting counting how many Sports Republic signings have lasted more than two seasons. The better acquisitions who have been sold need to be considered yet I wonder how many have remained on the fringe. It would therefore be interesting to learn how long we tend to retain our better acquisitions. There does seem a lack of ability to improve the squad. I also would be curious to learn how many SR signings make less than 20 starts.
It's made me realise how little focus there is in retaining our good players. There is seemingly no interest in keeping the good ones and building around them, everything is just profit profit profit. It's even become very eye opening in this forum how many I've seen happily accept that Dibling may get us a fair whack and also how they are happy Sulemana may hit form now as we can hopefully offload him for cash in the summer. And I can't help but think that kind of thinking is EXACTLY why we are in the **** state we are as a club. Why is the first port of call to sell Sulemana now that he might actually show some positives? Why not "thank **** we have a player that can help and push us on", instead it is just dollar signs in everyone's eyes. It's depressing. It is soul destroying supporting a club that is seemingly openly happy about being a selling, stepping-stone club. Especially seeing where we were 10 years ago and actually competing high in the premier league. Now it feels like as soon as the cream starts rising to the top people start licking their lips about the prospect off offloading them elsewhere. Even when we were doing well it was our biggest issue, we sold anyone and everyone that was good and kept the ****. We replaced everyone with poundland versions of them and then everyone had shocked faces when we started plummeting down the table. Yeah weirdly Redmond for Mane and Elyonoussi for Tadic was a ****ing moronic decision. There is no positivity in me for this club right now. Because to me even if we do start making progress, maybe we go down but we get a great squad for next season and boss the Champ, I have zero faith that this board wouldn't offload the best if big clubs came asking. And if we arent trying to build a team to compete then really what is the point in getting excited?
Saw this earlier. Obviously someone’s take on our recent signings & id agree with the ratings. Also, iirc, we only made about £20m on Lavia & £30m on Tino? (Happy to be corrected) which quickly gets swallowed up with that other rubbish.
The only sustainable way to run a smaller club is buy low, sell high. It's what everyone from Brighton to...well....anyone do really. Even Liverpool players aren't free from that when your Real Madrid's come calling. You just have to do it well when the money comes in, which is the part we haven't been doing.
Every club does this apart from a very few elite sides. The reason it seems so drastic at Saints is because we got relegated and are about to get relegated again. If we were sat in 15th fans wouldn't be talking about cashing In on Dibling - they'd be hoping he extends his deal. As for Sulemana - we all want him sold because we don't think 60 good minutes means he is suddenly a good player. He has been crap in almost every other game so if we can cash in then we should. If we didn't go down we wouldn't have sold JWP, Tella or maybe Tino. It would probably just have been Lavia.
I am watching the Brentford v Man C game, and they mentioned Maupay. What's happened to him? He's a real **** disturber who can score goals. I would welcome him at Saints, and perhaps we could keep him for next season.
I think we have had enough of bad influences in the dressing room. We also don’t have Theo to raise the spirits of a demoralised team.
