It explains why young players like Kamara go up for the ball and lead with their shoulder and don’t use their head at all if the can avoid it - he did it on Sunday - he’s not the only one it’s become very common now . Hughes , Jones and Macca are the obvious exceptions !
The obvious answer to heading the ball is to have a certain number of nominated headerers per team. I think 3 is about right. Those nominated wear crash helmets, thus protecting them from future harm. Problem solved.
Helmets actually don't necessarily offer much protection as the brain still 'rattles' inside the skull upon impact. I'm not sure if that just means they need to develop better helmets or if there's still some inherent risk.
Yeah, the whole purpose of any helmet is to prevent penetrating head injuries rather than any and all head injuries.
helmets stop stuff like skull fractures etc theres nothing you can really do to stop the brain moving about in the skull if you look at woodpecker physiology, theres no way to limit with the way the human brain and skull exist
The discussion yesterday on radio on this form Nobby Styles son who haded up the campaign Beckham is now endorsing... in his Dads day, it was the weight and construction of the ball, in todays game its the velocity. Think Fin Burns on Sunday. Who will pay for the care? They were saying that players should pay 1% of salary into a fund, that the PFA should contribute and even ball manufacturers.
Pouring crazy glue into one's ears may help. (wiping off any spillage to prevent the ball from adhering (not adhearing!) to one's head.)
