You'd think they'd keep their championship core of a team and just sell Dibley though, he'd worth 30ish mil i reckon

I do like the idea of Sessegnon (as someone who singlehandedly covers three of our least strong positions pretty solidly). However, I wouldn't be averse to us rolling the dice on left back. Or at least, I won't be too worried if we don't get one done.

By the time the window closes we will have a maximum of 20 games left. Can DC make it through that? And if not can we make it through with Hjelde, O'Nien or even Bainbridge for the odd game? If they believe in OB as a prospect then they shouldn't be scared of putting him in 'too early'. Think there's an example of what can happen with Aaron Connolly. We brought him in to cover issues up top and barring the odd moment he's basically just been a security blanket for us. Of course that view would be made to look stupid if DC gets a season-ender on Feb 2nd, but we should look just as critically at every time the club brings a player in that we didn't ultimately need IMO.

Aye Kirchhoff being the prime candidate at that time!! Never played a full 5 games in a row since I don’t think!!

That said, apparently they are very bad for players after they stop playing and stop using them. So from a player future perspective, not the best idea!

I don’t feel comfortable with it being honest. It’s quite possible we have a Hume suspended and Cirkin injured. We don’t even have wing back options really. If we’re second and we hit that scenario it’s a mistake. I get your point because it’s blocking players development but it seems like an accident waiting to happen with current resources.

Played 14 games in a row from his full debut v Man City until the win over Everton. Was rested (as were others) for the Watford game at the end of the season
Didn't play much the following season admittedly

It's a gamble. I guess my view is influenced by my opinion that the run-in is gonna be a grind regardless. I don't think it'll be expansive football and it is gonna be about gutting it out. I think putting a centre half at fullback can do that for a game or two. Certainly I'd expect we can cover suspensions and minor knocks like that. The other part of it for me is RLB and his rotation policy. Ultimately I don't believe we can bring in a specialist left back and have them ready to go - and ready to be trusted - for what may well end up being one or two appearances. We'd be far more likely to get what we need from versatility in our existing squad, or by bringing in a versatile player for the remainder. Sessegnon would be perfect, as he'd no doubt get up to speed playing off the bench in a variety of positions. However a specialist left back being brought in may well end up in an Aleksic style twilight zone for the rest of the season, which begs the question 'why bother'.

We probably do. Most teams use them now. When away teams come up here and stay in the Radisson at Durham, they bring their cryotherapy chambers with them. I speak to someone who works there.

I didn’t know Diaz’s partner is due to give birth soon so only wants to move to an area he is familiar with, fairs really

Sheff Utd favourites to sign Brereton Diaz
Latest from Sky Sports News' Rob Dorsett:

Sheffield United are favourites to sign Southampton striker Ben Brereton Diaz on loan this month.

Saints are keen to move on some players who haven’t been integral parts of the first team so far this season - Brereton Diaz is one of those, having made just four Premier League substitute appearances since September.

Sunderland and Blackburn have both made approaches for him, but Sky Sports News has learned that Brereton Diaz’s personal circumstances mean he will only consider a move to Sheffield United in this window. Otherwise, he is happy to stay at St Mary’s and fight for his place.

His partner is due to give birth to their baby soon, so the Chile international will only consider a move that is suitable for his family. He knows Sheffield well, having spent a five-month loan spell at Bramall Lane this time last year, to try to help keep them in the top division.

Southampton are thought to want a contractual guarantee from any Championship club which takes him on loan this time that they will sign him on a substantive deal, if that club is promoted to the Premier League.

This is what I don’t understand he wants familiarity so would rather Sheffield where he spent 5 months on loan

over Blackburn, where he lived for years making 160 appearances

Maybe they previously lived in Darwen and she doesn’t want her baby brought up on takeaway kebabs
