Hmm, hard to pin that one solely on the recruitment team as pretty sure he was a RM pick, having done a really good job last season ... I guess the issue (which may be what you're alluding to) is signing him permanently in the summer was a mistake to add to the list
A mistake that was so blindingly obvious though. We never should have made the move permanent. I agree that he was clearly Martin's signing. But the club could still have vetoed it. Be interesting if we're looking to loan him out (with a view of being part of the squad next season) or sell. If the latter, I doubt we'd get very much for him.
Oh, agreed with the fact it was an RM signing for his "boys club". BBD Taylor Fraser Cornet Four of our summer signings. Four people we're willing to let go in January. That's not great.
This is exactly the problem. You have forgotten the likes of Edwards who has gone out on loan and the fact that the likes of Tall Paul were not fancied for the Championship but seemed OK for this campaign. I think that the squad for this season is much weaker than the one we had at the beginning of the last one. The recruitment has been dreadful over the summer with the exception of Ramsdale and Fernandes.
I didn’t include Edwards, as I think he’ll come good and we’re not actively trying to get rid. But yes, the summer recruitment was pretty hideous.
Completely agree; the likes of Alcaraz, Adams & Stuart Armstrong would walk into this side. Amazing how their recruitment has taken us even further backwards.
This seems obvious so I wonder if this is a last resort that includes a very low release clause to at least get us something. Even then KWP may choose to risk seeing out his current deal in the hope of a lucrative signing on fee at his next club.
Sounds like Charles will be staying at Wednesday until the end of the season. Happy enough with that.
I personally want us to keep Manning. For me, he’s actually taken to the Prem a lot better than some of our players & is solid in Championship, be silly to sell at this stage as he will do a job as backup LB at Prem level if we manage to bounce back. Also think he suits Juric system better
This is an interesting point. Do we think the club are planning transfers with the thinking that Juric will be in charge next season? We still don't know if the rumoured break clause actually exists.
