Hull City manager Ruben Selles speaking to BBC Radio Humberside: "We knew it was a difficult game from the very beginning, it's the FA Cup, we know what it is. We managed to minimise their possession but we conceded a goal which should not have happened - that put us on the back foot. "We equalised and had the chance to win it in 90 minutes, we didn't, we went to extra-time and had a couple of chances, we didn't take them, we went to penalties, 4-3 ahead with the chance to finish it… we didn't. "When you have that many opportunities to finish the game and you don't take them, you end up paying the price – that's what happened today. We need to be more ruthless." Doncaster manager Grant McCann speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield: "Hull are definitely improving under this new management team - we knew that. And we knew we would have to come here and be strong defensively. But I'm overjoyed for the boys because I know they put a shift in. "We started brightly and then we scored a really good goal. It was disappointing the goal that we conceded but to reset ourselves and go again from extra time into the penalties, I was really pleased with that. "I'm pleased we have won a penalty shootout as it feels like I have not won one for a while and I'm obviously delighted to get the job done. "So we will see what the draw throws at us now. Half of me is thinking I would love to get to the fifth round maybe but the other side is thinking I would love a day out at Anfield or the Emirates or somewhere so let's see."
Very poorly. Dragged myself from my sick bed because the lad hates missing games and now I'm home again not sure what day it is, what time it is and why I miss Grant McCann so much.
For what it’s worth, Howden told me his concerns months ago about the state the club is in off the field back when Walter was still head coach and I don’t see why he would make this stuff up. I also think he’s not forthcoming with this info because people on here will call him a bullshitter and having an ‘agenda’ against the owner and his cronies.
I trust him given how much he’s been on the money with other stuff. Given the way transfers seem to take an age it wouldn’t surprise me the nature of those comments being true
I dont think people would say that..... He's a bullshitter and has an ‘agenda’ against the owner and his cronies.
I’ve heard concerning things separate to what Howden has heard and told me, particularly about Acun and his financial dealings in Turkey which could land him in serious legal trouble. This coupled with what we know about how the club is run based on public knowledge like managerial appointments and transfers just strengthens my view that Acun is going to leave the club in a far worse state than the Allams did. The Allams were hard-nosed businessmen bordering on spiteful but they weren’t crooks. I honestly can’t say the same about Acun.
He was saying that there’s no panic and there’s no replacement coming in. Other staff were taking some of the responsibility of tans work. Mainly there was no issues or panic
In Selles' recent appearance on the podcast (not top 20?) it sounded like Selles and his assistants interviewed and assessed the club as much if not more than the other way round. Although it was a mess at Reading, surely they would have bided their time for the 'right' opportunity rather than jump from one frying pan into another one.
I think when Tan left, Baz suggested things would be fine, probably alluding to what you guys are talking about and him assuming that things would improve with Tan gone.
