i know more and more ex footballers are being diagnosed, but how many compared to the thousands and thousands of ex players? so what is the actual risk in % ? is it much higher then % of other professions, genuine question, i dont have a clue and not trying to belittle it at all.
A pro footballer is heading a ball day in day out Us who played amateur can’t compare it to how many times pro’s head the ball
Not so much with dementia but the issue with CTE is you can’t physically diagnose it till death as Brain scans can’t detect it. The problem has been rife in the NFL for a while starting back with Pittsburgh steeler legend Mike Webster. His death sounds brutal way to go. I know the Astle family have been campaigning here a while after Jeff’s death.
There's a an average 50% increase in the chance of dementia in a professional footballer, the longer the career, the higher the risk.
Asked a Mate who hangs about with Deano, "Nowt wrong with him...Its all about trying to get some money off the FA. John Stiles is behind it all."
Presumably he’ll have a proper medical diagnosis for anything to happen which would be difficult to falsify
I hate to say it but my first thought was he’s jumping on the band wagon Hell do the rounds of all the podcasts and talk shows earning him some cash Beats sponging off his mrs all the time he really isn’t a nice character
This news is so sad. What Deano has done for Our club is immeasurable. I hope he gets all the help needed and is supported by the club in every way possible.
I’ve had lots of nights out with him over the years, he’s ok when sober, but yes after a few drinks he gets difficult, if he gets well pissed he gets unsufferable. Like most footballers tbh. His fave trick is walking around a pub …”do you think I’m a legend” most say yes…”are you going to buy me a drink then”
